How to…….even if………

{Blogger Challenge Day 2}

How to get out of the house with 3 young children by 8am and be semi-dressed/caffeinated EVEN IF your husband is on a business trip.

(These first 3 steps must take place the night prior)

1. Forget the PJs. Put your kids to bed in the outfits they will wear the next day. Trust me this will save you time in the morning.

2. While you’re at it, forget your PJs too. Sleep in your yoga pants and an acceptable tshirt in the w.c.s (worst case scenario) that you don’t have time to change in the morning.

3. Pray that your kids sleep through the night. Pray really, REALLY hard.

(The following steps take place the morning of)

4. Try to wake up before your kids so you have an increased chance of getting dressed and/or drinking coffee. It’s likely that you will have to chose between the two. I usually chose the later.

5. It’s probable that your kids will wake up 2 seconds after you do because of that blasted floor board that creaks when you try to sneak downstairs. However, they are already dressed, so get the teeth brushed, shoes on, and advertise something easy for breakfast like, “Mmmmm who wants some delicious Cheerios??!” When they ask for pancakes tell them you are all out.

6. If whining about breakfast continues, don’t try to be a hero. You have a whole day ahead of you to make up for the shortcut you are about to take. Get the kids in the car and beeline it to the Starbucks drive thru. Toss some egg sandwiches back to the kids (and a latte for yourself) and be on your way.

7. As you are pulling up to school and realize you forgot to wash your face let alone put an ounce of make up on, grab the your sunglasses and baseball cap you conveniently stash under your seat and fake it.

Like I always say, “It’s not always pretty, but the kids (and you) will survive.”

(I don’t go around saying this out loud or anything, but I think it a lot. And so now you know.)
