Little Nest Portraits Sessionette

January 10, 2014

There is one thing that I dread in life as much as I dread matching socks….. and that one thing is something I attempt to do several times per week with little to no success. Yup, it is taking pictures of my kids. I really, really despise this “task”. It goes something like this:

“Okay, everybody sit over here in front of this tree so we can get a family picture.”

“Okay… who wants M&M’s??? Anyone who wants M&Ms needs to come sit over here for a picture!”

“No. Not ON your brother, just sit next to him.”

“Nope. No no no. Don’t stick your fingers there!”

“No! Sit back down. No M&Ms until I have one good picture.”

“Take your foot off of his head.”

“No! Don’t squeeze him so hard!”

“I don’t care if you want to play soccer right now! I just want one picture! You will thank me when you are 25! NOW SIT DOWN and SMILE!”

… and we fight, and we argue… and they turn out like this:

So when I heard about the “Sessionette” a.k.a. “mini session” offered at Little Nest Portraits, I jumped on the opportunity. A quick and easy 15 minute photo session, followed by a slideshow presentation of the images, and on-the-spot photo selection? – Yes, please!

Here is how it works. Upon entering the studio the photographer took us to the studio and started snapping shots almost immediately. Apparently my kids listen to everyone but their mother and this photographer in particular, had them smiling and laughing… and dare I say…..posing!

It was fast and painless and over so soon that I blurted out, “Wait!!! Are you really sure you got some good ones?” I was assured that she did and we were escorted to the waiting area where there were snacks, beverages…. and… chocolate!

And just as I was about to kick myself for forgetting to bring some toys for the 15 minute wait time between the photo session and review session … they had that covered too! Blocks, puzzles, coloring activities, books….. my kids had plenty of things to keep them busy.

And just 15 minutes later the photographer reappeared, turned off the lights and viola! There they were on the big screen! A roundup of the best photos from the session.

After narrowing down our choices we selected the photos we wanted to purchase ….and were on our way.

Oh, and we passed this on our way out too:

….. photos from my maternity/newborn session!

I’ll admit. I was skeptical that anyone could get my three hooligans to take a decent picture. These were amazing.

Natural and candid…. and the quality of the images speak for themselves.

Are you ready to make a mini investment in your children’s youth? Ready to freeze those smiles in time as a lifelong keepsake?

Here are some answers to the questions you might be thinking right about now:

WHY NOW? Have an empty wall in your house that needs to be filled? Need some pictures of your kids that are not on a white beach and/or in their holiday finest? Capture their smiles in a relaxed, natural setting, in clothes that they won’t fuss over wearing and I promise you will get pictures that will make your heart flutter…….(cough) Valentine’s Day present for your spouse (cough). Oh, and grandparents like this sort of thing too.

WHEN? For the Sessionette, all you need is 45-90 minutes from start to finish (depending on how long it takes you to pick your favorites!). Throw some cute clothes into a bag, pick your kids up from school on their lunch hour (your kids are naturally gorgeous and don’t need time to primp)… and squeeze it in then. If you are doing this a surprise or a gift for a loved one… they will never have to know! Go out for “pizza”….

HOW MUCH? The creative fee is $50 for the Sessionette and photo packages start at $175.

WHERE DO I SIGN UP?  Click here to provide your contact information and availability to book a session. Or, if you’d rather call by phone you can contact Little Nest Portraits in Wayne or Glen Mills to book your session. But… don’t forget to mention Sisters to Sons because…..

I know! Crazy, right? I am really not exaggerating though… 15 mins is all my kids can handle and they really stuck to it.

Beautiful photos!! We need to do this. First year, Zoe’s school photos did not come out awesome…good, but she looks apprehensive rather than her happy self. So we need some spring photo shoots I think! And they NEVER sit still for me 🙂

Thanks, Gina! I know… something about when you tell your kids it’s picture time and everything goes wrong… something I’ve learned to leave to the professionals!

I totally agree on everything you said about the little nest! We recently did a photo session in the office. It was fast, easy and the biggest issue was on line picking a few. The pictures were Great! !!! My kids were also amazing there, big smiles and participation the whole time.
