This is the best layer dip ever….. according to me, and my high school soccer team who devoured this before every championship game to ensure a win, and my track team who did the same, and every other person who emails, texts, and calls me for this recipe after they take one bite. We like to call it, “the dip”. No bells, no whistles, just simple, fresh ingredients that draws a crowd and keeps them happy. That football game that is coming up on Sunday… you know that Super Bowl one. Make this. Just do it.
All you need is this:
Tostitos Scoops, 2 avocados mashed, juice of one lime (not pictured), 1 container of sour cream, 1 bottle of Ortega Taco Sauce (desired heat), 1 bag of shredded cheese Mexican Blend, 1 bunch scallions chopped
Then just do this:
Mash avocado with a fork, squeeze lime juice on top of avocado layer. Salt and pepper if desired. Smear sour cream on next, drizzle taco sauce on top of that and use back of spoon to evenly coat. Next comes the cheese… let loose a little. Then sprinkle the scallions.
That’s it. That’s “the dip”.
You could make a super fancy, double stuffed, triple fried, phyllo doughed, inside-out, delicacy that no one will actually like, but it will look pretty…. or…. you can make “the dip”. Simple, approachable, and proven to make teams win. As for the Super Bowl, well, I honestly don’t even know who is playing. I’ll just be in the corner… hoarding my dip.
Who is with me? Who loves the dip as much as I do?

The “Dip” is the best. Maybe we can rename it “The State Championship Dip”. It’s a good idea to stay close to the “dip”, since it seems to vanish before your eyes. And this is coming from someone in the meat industry.
