Urgent. Please read.

This is not a typical post. This is an urgent matter about a sick child and I thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and doing anything you can to help.

Today I have a pit in my stomach because my sister’s nephew, one of Aimee and Todd Hardy’s four sons named Josh (age 7) is very sick. At the age of 9 months, Josh was diagnosed with Malignant Rhabdoid Tumor of the Kidneys. After countless rounds of chemo and radiation, he was cancer free. A few years later cancer cells were present and since then he has teetered between being just your average elementary school boy, and battling cancer.

Earlier this year he had a bone marrow transplant at St. Jude’s Research Hospital in Memphis and he has not fully recovered from it yet.  While in the hospital he developed a virus that can only be treated by a specific drug that has not been released to the market yet.

Please read this message below from Josh’s mom and share via her status update.

Every single night I sing the words, “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray. You’ll never know, dear, how much I love you. Please don’t take my sunshine away.” I sing that song every night and I squeeze my baby and I let that last line linger. I sing it and I mean it. I beg for it. I hope that whoever is listening, hears it. Because as a mother, a parent, the worst thing in the world is for something bad to happen to your child, for that irreplaceable ray of sunlight to be taken away. Please. I beg you. Email, call, reach out to anyone who might have a shot at helping Josh get the medication he needs to save his life.

To reiterate the information Aimee provided, the phone # of Chimerix Inc is 919-806-1074 and the email is [email protected]
