Why is our bedroom, the “master bedroom”, the last place we decorate in our homes? What is supposed to be a tranquil, peaceful haven is typically a mish-mash of hand-me-down furniture, piles of laundry, and the storage destination for everything that doesn’t have a spot. “Oh, no one wants grandma’s old night stand? Must be antique! Send it my way!……Oh, you have an extra 8×10 rug? Hmmm let’s see, yeah, tan should work – neutral is always in, right? We’ll take it.” Sound familiar? And don’t get me started on the furniture in our bed room. I think we have a chair that is khaki, but it’s typically covered with laundry so, yeah, not really sure anymore.
When Phoebe of PS&Daughters came over to help me with my bookshelves, I asked her to take a look at my bedroom, you know, just to see if it had any potential. In its neatest state, it really is a fine room. Fine, as in, okay. When the laundry is picked up and the boxes are shoved in closets and under beds, it picks up to be just…… “fine”. But it’s not that peaceful, tranquil haven I’ve always dreamed about. Magical? Hardly. It’s bare bones – just furniture stuck in to fill the space. If I can relate this to fashion, my bedroom is sort of like my jeans, tee, and flip flop outfit that needed a little tweaking to look more styled and intentional.
Here is where the magic isn’t happening for me:
Phoebe put my 4 walls through her brand new E-Design service and the result gives me more than hope!
I’m going to turn this post over to Phoebe now so she can explain the E-Design process and illustrate the new look for my room.
Bedroom Makeover with PS&Daughter’s E-Design
PS & Daughter’s E-Design gives people a fun and easy way to get professional design services in the most affordable, approachable way possible.
The process is really simple:
1. Think about a room, or rooms, in your house that are ready for a new look.
2. Grab a cup of coffee (or wine) and sit down with our design questionnaire. (The trick: Have fun with it. Let your true colors fly, say what you mean, and don’t be afraid to send us anything that inspires you.)
3. When you’re all finished just click the button and submit your genius ideas to us. We will go to work.
4. When we are finished you will have everything you need to put your new design into place:
Room Overview– This is where we tell you what we heard when we read the answers to your design questionnaire. We give you our conceptual interpretation of your vision for the room (or rooms), just to make sure that we are all heading in the same design direction.
For Lindsey’s bedroom, we wanted to give her a Master Bedroom design that turned her existing space into a tranquil, sophisticated retreat, by incorporating soothing colors and elegant but livable design elements that work well with her existing bed and dresser.
Customized Storyboard– The storyboard is where you will begin to see the pieces that will make your redesign a reality. We give you a visual representation (pictures!) of all the furniture, fixtures and design elements that will come together to compose your new space.
Room Layout– In a well-designed room, everything has its place. When we deliver a precise CAD rendering of the new room, with all of the furniture and artwork laid out, you will know exactly where everything belongs. (Just make sure you have a little muscle on hand for moving the big stuff!)
Shopping List– Visions are great, but purchasing and delivery is where the rubber ultimately meets the road in the design world. We will give you every bit of information you need to purchase and ship all of your design elements, so you all you have to do is point, click, and wait for the delivery man.

And now you are thinking, “Ok well, how much does this service cost?” While I can’t give you exact numbers because each project is unique, an E-Design package is about a third of the cost of the traditional design package.
