It’s no secret that I am a beauty product junkie. But the more we hear about the scary stuff we are slathering on our skin on a daily basis, the more conscious I’ve become about the products I use. Lucky for us, brands are catching on and creating products that are junk free – great news for beauty junkies, right? And while I’m not ready to go au natural, I’ve nailed down my go-to au naturale summer makeup routine with Beautycounter – a beauty and skincare line that has the biggest “NEVER LIST” out there (<— go ahead and dare ya to click it). They’ve set a new standard for safety in the beauty industry banning over 1,500 chemicals without compromising on quality for one second. I’ve actually been using Beautycounter for over a year, but just recently got turned onto their makeup thanks to my friend who recently became a consultant (because she loved the line so much). It’s kind of huge to not have to worry if my products or safe or not. (Oh, and before I forget, their kids line is A.MAZING. Try it and it is the only stuff you’ll ever buy your kids again. A little goes a long way – lasts for months!) Ok back to the makeup. I have another 5 minute routine down pat – an au natural look with au natural makeup for a cheeky summer glow.
Step 2: Matte Bronzer – I go nuts, applied with a brush all over cheeks, eyelids, forehead.
Step 3: Cream Blusher in shade Umber – You can apply this with your finger or with a small angle blush brush. Using a brush for a cream based product sounds weird, but this product has serious staying power for hot summer days and gives a dewy glow. It can also be used on the lips – a great 2 for 1 product! (For an easy tutorial on the cream blusher check out this video about 30 seconds in).
Step 4: Eye Shadow Duo in Peach/Bronze – I use an all over eye brush to apply the peach from lashes to brow, then use a crease brush to apply the bronze to the brow bone and over the outer lash corners for more definition.
And here it is, an au natural summer look.
To transition this same summery face into a nighttime look, I added a lip sheer in the shade petal along with eyeliner and mascara.
