Okay. Party might be pushing it, but 2 hours among heaps of clothing sans kids and with your mom – these days, that’s a party for me! I decided this year that I would do a little leg work for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and test out some of these clothes that caught my eye. I went today, the last day of the pre-sale, and a lot of sizes are picked over, but pretty much everything is still in stock online. Personally I like online shopping better because it’s easier to “see” everything…..aaaaand plus I love getting mail 😉 In case you missed this post with some of Abby and Kaytlynn’s (and my own) picks, I explained why this sale is so huge. Huge as in awesome. It’s fall’s new trends on sale at a discount price. After the sale, the prices go back up. Once you see what they’ve got in store, I’m pretty sure you’ll be dreaming of red leaves, chai tea, pumpkin everything, and maaaayybe even Starbucks red cups. Just a hunch.
Ok here are the goods! Let’s start fancy, shall we?
Jumpsuits and Dresses
Ok this. When you see the price tag you will think to yourself, “Well, I’ve been wanting to try this trend and now I don’t have an excuse anymore.” To me, the jumpsuit is the new LBD. Paired with this Rebecca Minkoff fringe bag (not part of the sale, but just amazing) and you are ready. Date night? Wedding? BBQ with fun drinks? Where are we goin’?
Ok if I look possessed in this next shot, it’s because I am. Or at least in shock. This gorgeousness is $44. I mean that neckline (!!!)… oh, and the slits…(minus the weird boob – I didn’t bring a strapless bra and had to improvise.) And do we all agree that this Rebecca Minkoff bag is equally swoon-able in this shade?
Party dress anyone? Ok so this isn’t part of the NSALE either, but it’s reasonably priced and I was JUST talking to a friend about dresses with cutouts and how a little cutout in the middle is safe because it’s the flattest part of everyone’s tummy, no? And the full skirt is just too much fun.
Now let’s switch gears to practical everyday wear dresses. This trapeze dress comes in a few colors. I would get black which they have online, but not in the stores. I showed how you could style this a few ways in the pictures below. And that sweater in the top left – bad picture but DYING over it.
And below is one of Kayt’s picks in action. I love it even more in person. It’s the DVF jumpsuit and Kayt says its a great bang for your buck because you can wear it to work, to weekend, to wedding. And I convinced my mom she should try it on too.
Oh hey!! And yep – her what-to-wear-to-a-September-wedding-in-SPAIN(!!!)-debacle? Mission accomplished!
Romper anyone? This one was a liiiiittle short on me, but hey, maybe you are into that? I have to say the bag steals the show on this one.
Fun Tops
Ok here are some fun “going out” tops for your “AHHH! I’m so excited I’m going out tonight BUT I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR” dilemma.
Feminine and flowy. Easy breezy to style with a long necklace and a fun bag. And the slightly open back ;)…. perfection.
This floral peplum is another fun number. The XS was a little short on me but with the bag and the flares, I’m not convinced this doesn’t work. How’s that for a double negative!
Sweaters and Cozy Stuff
And the Vince sweater deserves it’s own close up. It might just be the softest knit I’ve ever touched. And it’s cozy yet sexy – a hard combo to accomplish, but then again, it iiis Vince and I’m pretty sure they’re known for that.
This next sweater takes the cake. Might be my favorite pick so far. They only had medium and large in the store so this is a bit too big, but smaller sizes avail online. With jeans, over dresses, as a coat. Lots of buck bang-age here. Oh, and SO soft. Not itchy in the least.
Other fun findsThese over the knee boots I’ve been eyeing since last year and they didn’t disappoint. I love them over jeans to elevate a basic tee or sweater. Paired with the leather jacket and…wow. BTW this is the softest leather jacket I’ve ever worn. I’m not really a leather person, but I love the way this drapes.
This long vest = so chic. So!
And just when you thought I was running out of steam I went to ONE last department:
WORK IT OUT:
In my opinion, everyone needs a casual pullover, and if you’ve never tried on a North Face vest – that needs to change. They are extremely lightweight but WARM! Also loving these ONZIE leggings – super slick and breathable and how fun is this pattern? I usually wear a S in leggings, but for this brand the XS was perfect (meaning: the XS wasn’t too tight in the waist area creating a muffin top like leggings that are too small often do;))
And finally, to make this easy, here is everything I tried on all in one spot:
and finally…..READER Favorites!!
(thanks to all those who wrote in!)
Bonus! Men’s Picks!
(these are all hand-selected by my husband and even one from my brother in-law)
*as mentioned, my husband’s size was sold out but he found the same shoe in canvas here and then got additional 15% off with code: SHOESAVE (if that doesn’t worr
