Reader Style Series: Modern Classic

February 16, 2016

So I had an idea. What if we broadened horizons a bit and started featuring the style of women other than myself? Maybe my style isn’t your style? Maybe you want to see someone else’s take on fashion? And to be honest, all I can really offer you right now is “bump style” and maybe that’s not you right now either. So yes! Why not feature other women for some fresh ideas and wardrobe inspiration? A while back I did a “casting call” on instagram seeking women who were interested in this new series. The women you are going to “meet” over the next few weeks bravely volunteered (or were nominated by a friend) to face the camera and show their unique, individual style. All I asked was that they wear something that makes them feel great! The reason I feature fashion on my blog, as I’ve mentioned before, is because motherhood isn’t always glamourous, but if wearing something that makes us feel confident or boosts our mood, then I’m all for it – obviously. I am so exited to introduce our first “Reader Style Series” mom, Taryn, with a modern classic look.

Q & A with Taryn:

Job: Adoption caseworker at A Baby Step Adoption/ Rodan & Fields sales
Kids: Haley and Tyler, age 7
Describe your style in 1 word: Classic
Go-to weeknight dinner: fish and veggies
Drink of Choice: Wine 🙂
Best piece of parenting advice you’ve received (or given): Whatever is best for mommy is best for the kids (a sane mommy is a happy mommy!)
Style icon: Reese Witherspoon
Best part about being a mom: When your kids tell you they love you totally out of nowhere
Hardest part about being a mom: There’s no time off for good behavior
Would you rather have a laundry fairy or dinner fairy: Dinner fairy
Ideal Date Night In: When my husband cooks (okay, grills, but it’s something!)
Go-to Baby gift: Gift certificate to (maybe you buy diapers, maybe you sneak something fun in)

And when I asked Taryn about her look, she said that it was something she would wear to an event that required something a bit nicer than jeans or athletic wear. She went with black and white because it is always classic yet chic, and extremely versatile. It can go from the office to dinner and drinks, or in actuality, Taryn was off to a shower in this outfit right after our little shoot.

Taryn, you look stunning! I love how you took a basic pants/blazer idea and modernized it for a classic, yet chic look. The drapey blazer, the lace pants (SO bummed they are sold out) – you nailed it! Thank you for being our first featured reader in this series!
