While it’s tempting to dream about tank tops and sundresses, many of us still have another solid cold month to get through. “We just need to get through March. Then we will be good.” My track coach said those exact words to me in high school (and now visions of doing sprints on a snow covered track, the smell of icy hot, and that post-race high are all flooding back), but I digress. For whatever reason, those words stuck with me, and it’s nothing against March, but sometimes we just want to get through it. And because it is very likely that most of our winter wardrobes are starting to feel a bit “stale” and over-worn I figured I’d share a little outfit inspiration. Sometimes less is more. There is something about playing around with a neutral palette that can be refreshing. And so I bring you two versions of winter neutrals:
Soft Winter Neutrals
I shared this snap on Instgram last week after my sister was facing one of those “I-have-nothing-to-wear” dilemmas for a fun night out with friends. Incorporating some white jeans is a super easy way to brighten any look. And keeping in the same color family, we added in a neutral sweater (and you’ll never believe where this one is from), sleek/simple accessories and a fun shoe. My sister’s husband is tall so we opted for a heeled bootie instead of the leopard flats. And yes, leopard IS a neutral! A very fun one. Here is how it all came together… and yes, front tucking a sweater is game changing. The J.Crew models told me so.
Yes. That is the happy face of a mom of 4 who knows the babysitter will be there ANY minute.
Edgy Winter Neutrals:
This next look is proof that neutral does not equal boring. Adding some texture (in this case….fringe) and a fun/bold material (faux leather) can bang as much punch as an outfit with bright colors, no?
And ponchos (two hands up to the sky) – a pregnant girl’s best friend. And the leggings are not maternity, but surprisingly stretchy. They look just as good with a hoodie and sneaks as they do dressed up. Maybe I’ll have to show you that next! For $28… why not? Have some fun!

Ok March. Let’s do this!
