There are a few things in life I just can’t seem to quit…. uhhh, like having kids for one thing 😉 and also shopping at the Gap. They have modernized their basics enough to be on-trend without going overboard, the price point is just right (and 40% off every other day doesn’t hurt either), and with a little creativity, you can create a styled “look” using their most basic pieces. And that’s exactly what I did with this maxi dress. Yes, a maxi dress is enough to stand alone. Most times you’ll probably see me wearing one with flip flops, but I saw this picture on pinterest (you can follow me here) and I thought YES!! This is what my maxi’s have been missing all of their life. And being pregnant, this works double time: 1) for the look, and 2) for the make-shift empire waist – a pregnant girl’s BFF.
Watch out…. curves ahead 😉
How to Style a Maxi Dress (Hint: LAYERS!):
Wearing:
Dress | Tee | Jacket | Shoes (sold out, but similar here or here) | Hat | Bag | Bandana | Necklace (from Rockbox, but similar here) | Ring (from Rocksbox – get a free month with code: sisterstosonsxoxo)
And my other obsession that I can’t seem to get enough of….this crazy crew.
No, really, most of my day is filled with damage control, I constantly feel like I am two steps behind, and on MANY occasions during this pregnancy I’ve thought to myself, “How I am I going to handle another baby?!?!”
But I’m pretty sure, that just like layers, sometimes you just need that finishing touch to create the perfect harmony.
Just go with me on that theory, mmkay.
Thanks 🙂

March 22, 2016 at 10:07 amI’m pregnant with my third and love getting things that fit that aren’t matetnity! I’m due in July, so I won’t be pregnant the whole summer! Did you get your regular size or did you have to size up for the bump? Thanks for the post – love your blog!

March 22, 2016 at 12:09 pmHi Keesha! Congrats!! I am usually between an XS and Small at the Gap so I went with the small! I guess I would size up if you are debating or if you are between sizes and plan on wearing this into your third tri. Maxis are great for summer pregnancies!!
