Because I spent the afternoon laid up (yet again) being sick and the fact that that daytime TV is mind numbingly boring, I passed the time in my eerily quiet house (thank you friends and fam who took in my kids!) putting together some head-to-toe looks from the Shopbop Friends and Family Sale. When warm weather rolls around my “mom uniform” is almost strictly ripped denim crops and slouchy white tees. It’s a classic combo that has always been what I feel most comfortable wearing PLUS its effortless. I have a hunch that it is an outfit we ALL gravitate towards so in an attempt to mix things up a bit, I created 4 looks using that denim blue + white motif. I probably spend most of my days towards the right side of the image below (hello, yoga pants), but sometimes I dress it up with a more polished look or go for something a little more whimsical/boho if the mood happens to strike. Hippy braids optional. Sometimes a tshirt with an unexpected cut (er, um ripped neckline!) is all we need to change things up a bit. And if you can’t get enough of those athleisure vibes, try adding in a fun sneaker or playful backpack.
I would wear any of the tops pictured below right now with jeans, and swap them out for shorts or a skirt in the summer months. Oh, and that drool worthy tank on the left…..I bought it YEARS ago in black and wear it all year long. It can be worn as a beach cover up, over shorts or a jeans, and you can see how styled it for winter in this post here (hint: turtleneck).
