What to Wear to Weddings This Season

April 22, 2016

With wedding season on the horizon, I asked my sister (who also happens to be my favorite clothing buyer), to help create a “What to Wear to Weddings Guide” of sorts. She went ALL OUT! I’m pretty sure you will find something below for every type of event this spring/summer that requires you to wear a dress. From beach weddings to country club weddings to going to a wedding pregnant, she’s got you covered.

what to wear to weddings

The Beach Wedding:

Beach weddings tend to a be a bit more casual. I like the idea of NOT wearing a dress to this type of venue. Change it up with a long jumpsuit or two piece set. Have fun with accessories to add color and whimsy. A simple sandal or espadrille will make it easier to walk in the sand.

The City Wedding:

One should always have an LBD in their closet. A city wedding is a great opportunity to try out a new shape or cut to create a cool girl vibe. Keep the accessories structural and clean. Pick a neutral shoe to complete the look.what to wear to a wedding in the city

The Country Club Wedding:

Classic silhouettes and clean lines are key for a country club wedding, but feel free to play with color, stripes and prints. Add a funky earring or cocktail ring to add some attitude. I really can not say enough about these simple sandals. THEY GO WITH EVERYTHING!

The Destination Wedding:

Destination weddings can be tricky because your outfit needs to be able to travel well. Stick to jersey fabrications for ease of packing and save the silk gowns for another event. Here statement jewelry should be the star to create a more over-the-top look. Again a simple sandal can complete the ensemble, but don’t be afraid to also make the shoe the star of the outfit.

The Rustic Wedding:

To stand out again the rustic environment, choose  a soft feminine frock in either a pastel or cosmetic tone.  A structural bag and block heel will add edge to the overall look. what to wear to a rustic wedding

The Art Gallery Wedding:

Have fun with prints and color! Look for graphic florals or placed prints to elevate the look.  A metallic sandal will take this look to the next level.

Maternity Wedding Looks:

True, going to a wedding pregnant, is not the most fun activity in the world #passthebubblywaterplease, but don’t let that stop you from feeling beautiful! Your bump is your best accessory, so keep the dress simple and for the love of your legs and feet…. wear flats!!

These are all so on-point. I think visually, the rustic wedding choices are my favorite, but in terms of what I’m drawn to in general, I’m definitely a city wedding kind of person. That Elizabeth & James dress is everything!
