Three plus hours in a dressing room with my mom, 2 sisters, and a 6 week old – let me tell you….. it was a party. By the end we were all sweating and chugging the complimentary little bottles of water. And Nordstrom today? It was PACKED. Which reminds me why I like shopping online so much better, but as part of my “job” I wanted to see what some of these coveted items look like on a human, touch them, feel them and report back. And so here it is… the annual Nordstrom Anniversary Sale dressing room party!
Let’s start simple. This sweatshirt. Well, it is cashmere so it’s a fancy sweatshirt, but the perfect top to elevate your everyday look.
And at a lower price point, but equally essential, there is this one.
I bought a similar version of this last year and it is effortless. The shirt underneath is attached so the layering is done for you. Throw on a pair of jeans, sneaks or booties and it’s my go-to weekday mom uniform.
And other casual look that is all about this denim…. these jeans are a MUST! My sister and I both bought them. It’s all about the crop flare these days and that undone hem – is it just me or are you seeing it everywhere? The open toed booties and Rebecca Minkoff bag transform what is a essentially just jeans and a tee, to a chic/styled look. Rebecca will do that for you 😉
Now take those same jeans and add a dressier top. This top is a great piece for working moms because it can be worn with slacks for work and jeans on the weekend.
Add this draped military jacket for a casual night out.
Modern button down, anyone? Here’s a great basic top with bootie coverage (would be great with leggings) and I loved the horizontal contrast on the pocket. The back has a big open pleat too.
And even though I was sweating to death… this multi-layer military parka was two thumbs up. #ihavethisthingwithhoods . The inner layer was this cozy ol’ sweatshirt. Come November I could see myelf living in this.
If loose, flowy top are your thing, then check out this Free People top. For me the front was just, eh, but the back sold me. Obviously with a cami underneath!
On a neutral note, my sister put together this outfit and it was one of my favorites! This lace tunic is beautiful alone, but I love the mix of textures under this ribbed cashmere cardigan. And those sunglasses… swoon! I was so close to buying them because they are the polarized Tory Burch, but my sisters didn’t like the two dots on the side. What do you guys think? I sort of love them….
And for a “Ralph Lauren” look, as my sister called this one… belt it!
Okay… so as not to overwhelm, I’ve made the executive decision to split this into two posts. CLICK HERE to see part 2!

The Shoe Edit:
These were hands-down my favorites. True to size (I have a feeling they might stretch a bit), but they are unbelievably comfortable and on sale for $89 (will go back up to $138 after sale). To be honest, I can’t do heels at this point in my life, so these came home with me! See more stand outs below…
