As per usual, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is massive and you will find yourself scrolling through pages of clothing, shoes and accessories – it can be overwhelming! To help narrow your search, I’ve put together 5 looks for fall from casual to workwear to date night. Many of these looks can be mixed and matched and dressed up or down which is why I loved these pieces so much. If you missed my previous #NSALE posts here and here, quick recap on why this sale is so popular – Nordstrom marks down brand new arrivals for fall for a limited time. On August 8th, the prices of these items will go back to their original prices. July 22 (today!) is the first day of public access. It’s going to be insanity and items will sell out fast. That being said, let’s start first with a great pair of jeans….
Look One – Everyday Casual
These crop flairs with the undone hem are my favorite transitional pair of jeans. The rise is just right (not too high, not too low) and if you are between sizes, I would size down. They are super soft and have the tiniest bit of stretch. This time of year, wear them with a tank and sandals. The bag, well, it speaks for itself. It was part of the sale last year in a lighter blush color and I couldn’t pull the trigger. I’m so glad I waited because this ‘whiskey’ shade is more practical and it’s a bag you can wear all year. I’m partial to backpacks these days because – 4 kids, 2 hands – I need both of them to be free!
When the weather gets cooler, take those same jeans and thrown on an oversized sweater or a long, layered vest. The vest I am wearing is actually not a part of the sale (its from Anthro and kept selling out last year), but not to disappoint I linked a few similar options below. And the booties are my top shoe pick from the sale! The price point is right, the look is adorable, and the most important part – they are sooo comfortable! In my opinion they run true to size without socks.
And the necklace (swoon). I have to give my sister credit for this one. I basically stole it right off her back (promise I will give it back). It’s Anthro and it’s everything… such a cool piece.
Look 2 – Classic Prep
I saw this top on the website and at first I wasn’t impressed. It was buttoned all the way up and completely tucked in on the model and looked too…. official? That might not be the word I am looking for, but I tried it on and started roughing it up a little and I kinda sorta love it. It’s preppy perfection. I love it with white jeans for now and would swap them out for a darker wash high waisted flares in the fall. Half-tuck it. Knot it. Do whatcha gotta do.
Top (If this sells out, you might also like this) | Jeans (but I like these better and they are only $44!) | Shoes (I also love these similar shoes) | Sunglasses | Watch (old David Yurman, but I love this one from the sale)
…and P.S. The gold macaroni bracelet I’m wearing was given to me by my own personal style icon, my grandmother! I know she would approve of this classic look – right, Flossie??
Look Three – The Mom Uniform
It’s hard to explain the morning rush with kids unless you’ve lived it. I fully believe in getting dressed (not yoga pants) at least once per week… #momgoals. This top makes this goal attainable because the layering is done for you. Throw on your favorite pair of jeans and sneaks or (let’s be honest… UGGS!) and it’s just as easy as yoga pants, just cuter.
Look 4: Workwear Chic
I call this look workwear, but it is really just a classic black shift that belongs in everyone’s closet. A long sleeve shift is basically just a blank canvas for great accessories and shoes. It’s hard to tell from this photo, but there is a pretty bow detail on the sleeves. For reference, I am wearing a small, but could probably go down a size for a more fitted look. And if you are in need of a great pair of lace up flats, these are super comfortable (no, really) and come in a bunch of different colors.
For a more casual look (work to happy hour, anyone?) throw on this draped military jacket – another piece you can layer over practically anything.
Look 5: Date Night Outfit, Accomplished!
Why is it so hard to come up with date night outfits in the colder months? Well, because it’s hard to find long sleeved tops that fit the pretty/sexy/classy-but-won’t-freeze-my buns off criteria, right? That is why I love this tunic. I created a more casual date night look with gray ripped jeans and booties, but imagine this top over leather leggings and heels? Or dark wash skinnies and over the knee boots? Or wear it now with a pair of cutoffs and sandals. Are the wheels turning?
This top is also a great base for layering. This drapey vest pictured above was a last minute find at the sale. Again, it looks funny on the model in the picture and falls much nicer in real life.
Ok, that’s it! What pieces are you guys loving? What did I miss? Leave a comment and let me know! Also, if you have questions about size/fit please let me know – happy to help!
