Reader Style Crush: The Main Line Photographer You Need to Meet

September 23, 2016

Over the past year I’ve featured almost a dozen women on my blog as a part of my “Reader Style Crush” series. We meet, we chat, and we each take turns being photographed so that I can use those photos to share these beautiful women, their style, and their story with all of you. I thought it would be fun if we turned the camera to finally “unveil” the talent behind all of the images on my blog. Well, not all (only the good ones). I am thrilled. Scratch that. I’m beyond thrilled to finally introduce you all to Alison, Main Line photographer and co-founder of The Photograph Co-op.

She’s a mom of three boys under the age of five so she ‘gets’ my chaotic, male-infused life. We shoot pictures, we talk boy things, I obsess over her shoes and she always says, “I got them at Target!” We take some more pictures and my kids run around like the crazy hooligans they are and I always leave thinking, “There’s no way she got the shot I was hoping for.” But she does. Every. Time. It’s a combination of speed and talent that I will never truly understand.

Let’s meet Alison:

How would you describe your style in 2 words? Mom. Uniform.

What song best describes you? “With a Little Help from My Friends” by Joe Cocker

What song best describes the dinner scene at your house on a daily basis? “Helter Skelter” by the Beatles

What’s your favorite pair of jeans? Joe’s Icon Ankle Jeans

What do you love best about raising boys? Watching them form a strong bond with one another.

Would you rather….. put the kids to bed or do the dishes? Gut reaction is do the dishes, but I would probably go upstairs to snuggle my boys 5 minutes into it.

What is your go to gift for new babies? Something for the mom, usually alcohol or a spa certificate.

What’s the best piece of parenting advice you’ve received? Don’t use TV as a babysitter (my dad gave me this advice). Now give us some! Let them make mistakes and figure it on their own sometimes.

What is the last book you read? The Three Billy Goats Gruff…bedtime reading…for the kids of course.

Who is your style icon? Kendall Jenner. I want to be her when I grow up.

I never leave the house without……..forgetting something.

What are your secrets for balancing work, family, and friends? Still a work in progress figuring this out. Things always seem to go the smoothest when I separate work from everything…but that’s easier said than done.

I am excited to share part of Alison’s new adventure. She recently launched The Photography Co-op with three other like-minded photographers who work together to meet the needs of all of their clients. Their mission says it all….

The Photography Co-op is simple. We are a group of photographers with a similar vision yet individual aesthetics when we are behind the lens. We are moms, daughters, wives, sisters and artists. We support one another creatively and learn from one another daily. We share resources, ideas…and sometimes cocktails. We have a relaxed yet passionate approach to photography and realize no one session will be like the next. The photography co-op is available for everything from family portraits, newborn sessions, headshots, senior portraits, fashion & editorial shoots and beach sessions.”

Local readers, you can get in on all of this! With the holiday season around the corner the Co-op is offering mini sessions for holiday cards. Be sure to follow the Photography Co-op on Facebook and Instagram. If Alison can get all four of my boys to look at the camera and smile, she can work wonders on yours as well. When she starts making strange animal call noises – just go with it. It totally works. All kids looking (check!), all kids smiling (check!!).

In all seriousness, I can’t say enough about her work and that she is one cool, laid-back chick to boot. Alison, congrats on this new chapter! Now don’t get too busy that you don’t have time for me! Kidding. Totally kidding (kind of…). Thank you so much for letting me formally introduce you to my readers.

    don’t miss a post
