Hi Motherchic friends! This is Abby, Lindsey’s (slightly) younger sister. A more formal introduction to come, but I’ve been doing some “behind the scenes” work on the blog for a while and I’m excited to share my fashion insight more regularly. Being that I work in the fashion industry and have a degree in fashion design, Lindsey asked me to round up the fall trends you need to be wearing this season. Here goes….
It’s October and that means bring on the pumpkin spice lattes! It also means time to stock up on some fall favorites. I’ve round up some of my favorite “wearable” fall trends. While my bus stop outfit may never look this or even this (!!) we can take some tips from these young fashionistas to add to our fall wardrobes. My favorite fall trends that top the list this year are ruffles, bomber jackets, fall florals (all worn on my sister below), touches of embroidery and ANYTHING VELVET! There are also some “micro trends” as we refer to them in the fashion industry which are trends that are hot now, but may be out tomorrow or even next hour, so we will tread lightly there.

Favorite Wearable Fall Trends
Fall Florals:
The easiest trend of them all is fall florals…this really means anything floral, but with a darker ground in the print. From dresses to blouses to scarves you will find fall florals everywhere. My favorite fall dresses are below, pair them with a leather jacket for that extra cool vibe.
Bombers:
Bombers have been trying to make their way back in the past few seasons, but this fall they are the GO TO jacket. There are so many versions, such as camo, plaid, sequin and definitely velvet. Pair with high waist denim and a basic tee to channel your inner Kendall Jenner
Ruffles:
Ruffles, especially on sleeves, are another trend that seems to be popping up all over the place. This trend is the most “seasonless” of the trends and can be carried easily into spring. There are so many options to choose from, but this ruffle sleeve sweater has got to be the winner.
Chokers:
Chokers are my favorite micro trend. While chokers may remind you of this 90s movie classic, they are back with vengeance. There is a choker for any girl whether you are more preppy or more bohemian. Pair with a v-neck blouse or sweater for optimal styling.
Velvet and High Shine:
The last two trends are definitely materials associated with the Holiday time period. Although if you haven’t dug your velvet blouse or jumper out of your closet yet, you are way behind my friend! Here are a few options if you donated those items back in the 90s….
