Reader Style Crush: Holiday Outfit Inspiration

November 1, 2016

Welcome to our final fall reader style crush! I have been saving this special person for  because not only does she have the most positive outlook on life (she has some sound reminders as we kick off the holiday season), but her outfit serves as some major holiday outfit inspiration for all of the gatherings that are beginning to fill our calendars. Meet Lindsay! We go waaaay back to childhood – we spent our summers together swimming at the same pool and all these years, we later still both live in the same 5 mile radius. Lindsay works as a nurse, but also has a passion for design and fashion. She is a beautiful girl, inside and out! From her swoon worth skirt to her festive smile, she has a foolproof look to wear all season.

How would you describe your style in a few words? Classic with a twist!

What was the last gift you gave someone? I gave my best friends mother a beautiful “Rock Flower Paper” serving tray from The Little House Shop. We spent the weekend on their boat and it had a great lobster on it. The same weekend I also gave my girlfriend a “Coobie” bra as I grabbed one for myself. (One for me, one for you!) They are unbelievably comfy and such a fabulous price point!
What’s your favorite pair of jeans? Easily hands down my Madewell “Flea Market Flares“…incredible. They look amazing with booties, heels and sneakers. I had them hemmed the perfect length to fit all three – I don’t know how that happened but they are like my sisterhood of the traveling pants magic jeans!!!

What do you love best about being a nurse? I love being with people at their most vulnerable. It’s an honor and privilege to watch and witness people get better, and an even bigger honor to be a part of some of their last moments. It sounds morbid but it is extremely precious and life affirming.

Drink of choice? Favorite drink is a dirty martini with three blue cheese olives…mmmmmmm. Cheers!

What splurge item is on your Christmas wish list? It would have to be between a YSL Classic Monogram bag in a bold color like red or purple and the new Stuart Weitzman Over the Knee in grey suede…mmmmm delish!

Most worn item in your closet? It’s a tie between my Madewell jeans and my white button down bodysuit from Tuxe Bodywear.

Go to week night dinner? Love a great piece of fish and chopped salad on the side

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received? Or give us some! Be who you are, wear it like you mean it, laugh everyday, be kind, never let the world harden your heart.

Who is your style icon? Oh boy…I have quite a few but Jackie O. trumps them all. For a more modern day muse I may say Blake Lively…she has had very few bad moments.

What are your secrets for balancing work, family, and friends?
I think it gets harder and harder as we “grow up”, people are so busy with their own lives and that’s perfectly ok – it’s a part of life. However, someone once told me, if you want to make the time, you will…no matter what. It’s about taking ten minutes to send a quick text or just say hi and I miss you. I’m all about saying what you mean and meaning what you say. It forms connections that last because people know they can trust you and trust that you will make space for them. I am happy to count my “best” friends on my fingers. Quality over quantity. I’m not into mean girl behavior at all. It’s pointless and a waste of time. And for me family is everything. If you’re not down with them, you aren’t down with me! As for work, it’s something most all of us have to do and it’s a part of life. Do your job with care and love and if you are miserable…find a new one!! Take a risk! No one will ever say they wished they worked more so work smart not hard, realize you won’t love it every second of every day but try and find the good.

Thank you, Lindsay, for being a part of this series!
