Effortless Holiday Outfits with Nordstrom

November 18, 2016

With Thanksgiving around the corner,  I can feel the chaos of the season at my fingertips. Chaos in the best sense of the word, of course. When there are cookies to be made, presents to be gifted, parties to attend and eggnog to be drunk (drank? drunken?… clearly we don’t have time to think about word tense), there is little time to stress over what to wear. I’ve partnered with Nordstrom to help take this issue off your plate and styled with a few effortless holiday outfits for all of your upcoming gatherings. They all follow this simple formula:

flirty top + skinny jeans + statement shoe

And because Nordstrom has such a great selection, I have not one, but three effortless holiday outfits to show you and, and, each top is under $100 (well under). The three tops featured are classic, yet on trend (yes, shoulder interest is not going anywhere anytime soon) and I also incorporated the fabric of the season into each look: VELVET! I know many of you are hesitant to break out your velvet pants of yesteryear, but adding touches of this festive fabric (as in shoes or accessories) is a safe, understated place to start.

Look 1:

I was first drawn to this cold-shoulder top because it is by the same brand that makes this wrap cardigan that so many readers have obsessed over. This top comes in four colors – any would work for the holiday season. I went with white (because with 4 kids that is the most obvious choice, right.. haha no), and added color and festive touches with a wine colored velvet choker (so good!) and heels (so so good).

Look 2:

A simple top with a ruffle? Now you have my attention! The drape of this top is just right. It comes in a few colors, but blush and wine are always a great color combo and I love how the look above transforms with a simple swap of the top (meaning, when your husband asks, YES you will wear those shoes more than once). Can we talk about these shoes for a minute? Disclaimer: I cannot walk in heels. After having kids I simply lost that skill. Sam Edelman is one of the few designers that makes a “comfortable” pump. Like one that I actually walk in and not want to text the babysitter and tell her I am coming home because I can no longer take the pain. Oh, and they are wine colored, my most favorite drink  color, and they are velvet and they are pretty stunning, wouldn’t you agree?

Look 3:

I saved this for last because it might be the one that gets the most wear. For me the holidays include a lot of super casual gatherings with family. Alas, its “the holidays” and we like to take our everyday wardrobe up a notch, right? This cozy off the shoulder number does just that. The shoes and the choker remain, and you can also see a good shot of my “push present” – the necklace I never take off. It’s a David Yurman beauty – an emerald (for my May baby) surrounded by diamonds (my three April babies). I know. My husband did good!
