When starting off the New Year we tend to take a more holistic view of our lives, and in some cases our wardrobes. One of the trends or “fashion verbiage” that has been tossed around lately is: The Capsule Wardrobe. What does that really mean and is it really possible?
From my point of view a capsule wardrobe includes the staple items that you invest in to create your wardrobe foundation. I believe that fashion should be fun and that you shouldn’t just limit yourself to a certain number of items. On the other hand, I do think streamlining your wardrobe and taking on the “less is more” approach is a great challenge. Let’s face it, we all have our favorite items that we wear all the time, so why not just have them in our closets? Reduce the noise. With that said, I have rounded up staple items that can create a solid foundation for a wardrobe. When mixed together these pieces can create go-to, effortless looks. These pieces are not boring, but I would encourage adding your own personality or accessories to really make your capsule wardrobe your own. Based on personal style, not every capsule will look the same. I came up with three variations to fit differing styles: preppy (clean/nautical/classic/tailored), femme (flirty/feminine/whimsical/soft), and edgy (unconventional/cool/original/distressed). And it is OKAY to mix and match between each style board. By no means are these one size fits all. All images are clickable.
