The Sunday Brief

February 12, 2017

The older the CHIC-er? // Apparently so.

Messy Baby // If you follow me on instagram, my insta-stories are 99% my littlest guy eating. Sorry not sorry – I can’t take the cuteness. But now, we enter the throwing stage. I think I need this.

Eats // Ok let’s see what did we eat this week? I made this Barefoot Contessa Potato Leek soup. SO good and sort of a fun cooking method. I also made pulled chicken which a few people asked for recipe so here goes:

  • 2-3lbs boneless chicken breast
  • 12oz bbq sauce
  • 1/2 cup Italian dressing
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2tbsp Worcestershire

Cook in crock pot 4 hours on high. It makes a lot! I used that entire pack of Colemans organic chicken from Costco. The second night I melted cheese on a tortilla, added the chicken and some spinach and rolled them up. Kids loved. Other than that I feel like I’m in a dinner rut. Someone please link something good in the comments!!

NYFW // New York Fashion Week is here! I was hoping for a day trip up to check out some shows, but not sure it’s in the cards. However, Abby, has a fun post coming out this week showing how to wear some of the runway trends in real life. Be on the look out for that. And in other unrelated fashion news, did you see Tory Burch has a new sport line?

Written in the Stars // I have nail polish color picking anxiety. Always looking for fun inspiration. Um, thoughts on this?

NSALE Time // In case you missed yesterday’s post – so much good stuff in the Nordstrom sale section. I scoured 8 pages and came up with my top picks!

Reader PERKS! // I love when stores offer you guys a sweet discount! Social Threads is offering you all $15 off $100 all February long with code: MOTHERCHIC15. They have so many affordable, stylish pieces. I’ll be posting more of my favorites in the upcoming week on the blog and Instagram so stay tuned! Also, Sogno, a beautiful, delicate line of jewels, is offering Motherchic readers 20% off your purchase with code: CHIC20 – happy shopping!

Calling all color-loving dog people // Did you see the new line at Target that just launched today?

Mini Fashionista // Moms, of little girls. I came across this cutie – a must have for spring. So yeah. Someone should get it and post a snap so I can ooo and ahh! #boymomproblems

Reader Question Corner // We’ve been getting lots of q’s via email from you guys and this one I figured was worth sharing with everyone! Denise from Downingtown, Pa asked:

So where do you recommend finding some good quality T-shirts that will last a while? I’m trying to downsize my closet following the 333 Method. Can you help?

Here are some of our picks:

Wilt– cotton based made in the USA with unique details
Splendid – more synthetic based, great fit
Velvet by Graham and Spencer- light weigh cotton in feminine shapes
Monroe – heavier weight fabrics in modern shapes
Madewell – overall best price and good quality
…. and just sayin, but in our ongoing sister text chain (you can only imagine with 5 of us), my middle sister just wrote to us this week saying she swears by these tees and just bought one in every color.

And, that’s all I’ve got. Actually, one more thing – I love this shop. Ok, that is all.

Happy Sunday,

don’t miss a post
