I have been recently coveting these pom pom mules from Anthropologie… but at $188 I just couldn’t justify the cost! Would I get a lot of use out of them? Definitely. Are they comfortable? YES! Are they worth the retail amount? Probably. But I knew that with a little creativity I could re-create these shoes for about a quarter of the cost. I found these basic mules at Forever 21 for about $24. I had some trims from previous crafts, but did go out and buy some pom poms for about $1 at Joann Fabrics (similar here). In 5 simple steps I had my very own pom pom mules:
DIY Pom Pom Mules:
Step 1: Gather Supplies
-Assorted trim (pom poms)
-measuring tape or ruler
Total Cost: $25.49
Step 2: Plan your design
I kept mine pretty simple with just black pom poms, but you can use the inspiration to get very creative with various appliqués and embellishments.
Step 3: Measure
For a uniform design, measure out where you want to place the trims. I did mine about 1” apart and made a mark with chalk.
Step 4: Go at it
Heat up that hot glue gun and apply the trim you are using.
Step 5: Wait and admire
Let glue dry and, voila! New shoes!
(Abby is busy trying to have her baby, so she let me take them for a test run!)
