The Sunday Brief and a GIVEAWAY!

March 5, 2017

One Size Fits All // Or should I say one BRAND fits all. After my jeans post went up last week, I had a few questions from you guys about jeans for petite girls and/or tall girls. I was talking with a friend and she said she loves this (surprising) brand – they come in 4 lengths and are an amazing price point. Some favorite styles below (and they are all buy one get one 50% off!):

GOOD Morning // 8 tips for a more relaxing morning. Is that even a thing?

On the Menu // Only because I am freezing as I type this, it’s still soup season and this one looks amazing and kid friendly. Isn’t it funny how you forget about certain dinners? I haven’t made a casserole in ages. Making this one this week but might add some butternut squash. Oh, and last week I made easy quesadillas in the oven – sautéed frozen corn with a shallot (as per my sister’s suggestion), added back beans, cheese and cilantro and my kids were nuts about them. Literally took 10 mins.

So Popular // I posted this photo earlier this week (taken by my 3yo!) and quickly these shoes became THE most purchased item in the shop. Backstory: they are the new version everyone’s favorite bootie from the anniversary sale. What’s the appeal? They are insanely comfortable and eye catching without overbearing your outfit. I am dying over the blush for spring (with boyfriend jeans, slouchy white tee… ahh perfection!). They run true to size and will stretch a little. I measure just barely a 7 and got the Breeza’s in a 6.5 and they fit great after a few wears.

Tech Corner // Do I need this? If not that, I definitely need this.

Crushing On // Does anyone have this dress? Based on the reviews (and the price point) I think it warrants a blog post. I’ll take one for the team and get it – I feel like it could be worn a bajillion ways, right?

Weekend Sales // The RealReal (designer consignment) is offering 20% off, up to 50% off at J.Crew Factory (I love their shorts and will live in these). And Loft is doing 40% off everything (I’m loving this cover up).

She’s Here (!!) // The sweetest little GIRL(!!) joined our family this week. Abby finally (a week late) had her baby in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. She has a full head of dark hair and is purely delicious. Abby posted a few photos over on her instagram handle (@the_sisterchic). Once she gets her bearings and a decent night’s sleep (ha), she will be all over the 4th trimester must-have that many of you asked for. In my experience, I lived in these post baby because the high rise fit holds everything in. I gifted Abby a hot pink pair because when someone has a girl I just can’t help myself!

Giveaway!

To celebrate the birth of this special little girl we are giving away $50 to our favorite one-stop-shop for diapers, wipes, gear, the best infant formula and more. Use the form to enter below.

My best piece of parenting advice is to not listen to all the parenting advice. You know your baby best. Do what you think is right!

I would love a blog post about that dress! It’s been in my wish list for a while, but I haven’t actually bought it yet. 🙂

Don’t worry about having everything figured out, things will all work out in the end. Just make sure you never run out of scotch tape, bandaids and popsicles and all will be good 😊 (mom of 4 plus another one on the way) ❤

Swaddles get you more sleep and make babies happy. And take all the help and meals you can get.

Congrats! I’m expecting my 2nd girl soon and can’t wait! My advice would be to take one day at a time. Life with a newborn is not what you expect or anticipate. Take time to recover and take care of yourself!

Congrats Abby! My advice would be that people are going to want to give you unsolicited advice or tell you what they did, do whatever works for you! Bottle or breast, swaddle or no swaddle, co-sleep or crib, a healthy baby and happy mama are all that matter!

Try to just take as many moments as you can cause the first stages go by so fast. Try to write stuff down and take lots of pics cause you think you will remember, but you won’t. congrats!!

And my best piece of advice would be to soak in the little moments! I’m expecting our fourth, but my oldest just turned ten, and every time I look at her, I’m just in awe of how time has flown!

I *just* bought that Leith dress in the green color! I’m anxiously awaiting it’s arrival. I have a feeling I’ll really like it. I love easy, casual dresses, especially ones I can easily dress up.

Congrats on the new little girl! My sister just had her baby Saturday, but uh… the little guy jumped the gun a whole 2 MONTHS early!

Buy nothing white – and everything should be wipeable and washable. And wine and deep breathing works wonders!

Enjoy the quiet night moments (once they are feeding) just you and baby.

Best piece of new parenting advice: Don’t forget that taking care of a newborn is hard work. Taking small moments to yourself when you can is key to being a good mama.

Relax and trust your gut! Avoid google at all costs….if you must have your partner or a friend search for you. 😉

Follow your heart and listen to your gut, it can’t steer you wrong!

I had 4 babies in 5 years (my youngest was 3 last week) and my favorite piece of parenting advice is to take pictures of all of her little parts. Take pictures of the tiny toes and the tiny fingers and tiny nose. When she sleeps on her belly with her little baby booty sticking up in the air, take a picture of it. Also, you know your baby better than anyone else. Trust in that.

My best piece of parenting advice…do what works for you, do what works for your baby! Do not beat yourself up on things like “I know I should be’s…” because that gets you no where and a happy home is all that matters!

Cherish the days when you can hold them in your arms and smell that baby smell every second! Time goes by too fast and you have to enjoy the little things. Congrats to all 🙂

My best parenting advice is to listen to everyone, but then make your own decisions. And own a snot sucker.

My best piece of advice is to accept help so that you can take care of yourself. Let someone make you a meal or hold the baby for an hour while you nap.
