Beauty Must Haves: Splurge and Save

April 19, 2017

We are constantly sharing our wardrobe favorites, but thought it would be fun to start sharing more beauty must haves that we are currently coveting. Abby and I are beauty junkies (yes, both of us) through and through, but we each have a stash of items that we continue to buy over and over again. We would love if you leave a comment and let us know your favorites! Some of our most loved beauty products have come from reader recommendations! Abby and I are both sharing the “splurge” and “save” products in our beauty bag right now.

Abby’s Beauty Must-Haves:

Covergirl Mascara: I basically never leave the house without mascara and this is hands down my favorite mascara I have ever found. The brush gets every lash covered evenly and the waterproof formula holds strong all day.

Stila Beauty Balm: This 10 in 1 balm is the perfect throw on and go. The unique formula magically matches to your skin tone but creates an even and smooth look. It is super hydrating, but not greasy.

Essie Nail Polish: The next best thing to clear polish, a subtle pink that gives your nails that super chic look.

St Ives Scrub: This pink lemon & mandarin orange scrub is a touch softer than the apricot scrub and gentle enough to use everyday!

Physicians Formula Bronzer: Bronzers are hard to find that don’t make you look orange, but this light brown hue gives me the perfect sun kissed look.

Well People Bronzer Stick: I use this when I have a little extra time and want to try my hand at contouring 🙂 I use a wide and flat make up brush to blend on my skin rather than a sponge. I found that the brush doesn’t absorb the product like a sponge would.

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue: This product has a soft mousse like quality which makes it feel very hydrating, but light. It never looks caked on, but somehow covers my imperfections.

Kai Perfume: This scent is a bit more masculine, but its great size to carry in my bag when I am on the go and need a little pick me up.

Albeit Brush: This super soft brush has the perfect shape to sweep on bronzer or blush.

Eyeko Shadow Stick: For the perfect smokey eye, smudge on this shadow stick across your lash line, then flip over the stick and blend with the built in brush. Soft enough for day, but can be built up for night.

Lindsey’s Beauty Must Haves:

Dove Flexible Hold Hair Spray: I always use this to set my hair after I curl it. It helps to tame frizz and still keep the curls soft and fluid.

No 7 Cleanser: Not only does this last forever, but I am a huge fan of this British line sold at Target. It doesn’t strip your face dry and does a great job of removing make up. Plus, anything that says “anti-aging”  – I’m sold.

Cerave Nighttime Cream: My dermatologist recommended this and it is super thick and hydrating. My under eyes need all of the moisture they can get!

NYX Eyeliner: If I am going to save money on one beauty product, it’s a toss up between hair spray and eyeliner. This one does the job!

Derma E Hydrating Eye Creme: I’ve been hearing lately that hyaluronic acid is one of the most important ingredients to look for in terms of hydrating and skin plumping. I’ve been using this morning and night and really like it!

Trish McEvoy Instant Eye Lift: I need a miracle with my under eyes and this is as close as it gets. Many readers recommended this to me so I knew it had to be good. Puffiness, brightness, lines, SAGGINESS (<–ugh), this product for all of that junk!

Skin Ceuticals CE Ferulic: After I had my last baby I treated myself to a series of microdermabrasions. The aesthetician (a 70 year old woman with gorgeous skin) said she would bathe in this product if she could and said it is an essential part of any skincare regimen.

Oribe Texturizing Spray: Okay so I know I said I wouldn’t spend $$ on hair spray, but this stuff is different. I use this all summer long especially if I let my hair airdry. It gives your locks that beachy look while also acting as a dry shampoo. It’s top rated for good reason.

Better Than Sex Mascara: I talk about this product all the time. Another reader recommendation that I LOVE (and get tons of compliments on!)

M61 Power Glow Peel: If you have every walked into a Blue Mercury you’ve probably noticed the gorgeous skin of everyone working there. I like to ask these women what products they use and in my research, they all use this product. It is like a mini peel (all paraben free) that you can do right at home. It does tingle a bit, but just proof that it’s working!

Love this post! Curious where you get your facials? I live in Bryn Mawr and am looking for a good local place. Thanks!

Hi steph! I go to sue Mottola from wildflower day spa… she does the facials out of her home in devon. She is a retired lawyer and started this second career years and years ago. She is extremely thorough.. you can expect to be there for at least 2 hours yet her prices are reasonable! Here is her # 610.341.9444

I can totally vouch for the BareMinerals makeup! I’ve been using it for over a year now-which says a lot b/c I usually switch up products. I love that it’s hydrating and actually matches my skin tone. Most of all, in the time I’ve been using it, I’ve noticed a considerable difference in my skin! I don’t break out nearly as often and the tone of my skin is better.

I’d also recommend these Sephora eye pencils. I just bought a couple last week on whim and they are good!
