I am so excited to announce that the Motherchic officially crashed Tampa, Florida to bring a little southern style influence to the blog. Over the next few weeks, I will be rolling out posts with featuring women from the sunshine state – basically my go-to vacation spot is the place they call home. Maybe someday, right? First up is Jen – a registered nurse who recently left her job to become a full-time domestic engineer, allowing her to be more present for her three children (ages 5, 6, and 9) while her husband recently launched an on-demand home servicing app called Homee (it’s like Uber for handymen, plumbers, electricians, and A/C technicians). Pretty amazing, right?
The day we took photos for this series it was a blustery 68 degrees in Tampa. No really, that is basically freezing for these ladies. Jen wore one of her favorite outfits that can easily be dressed up or down. Her foolproof combo? Interesting tee + classic blazer + awesome shoe. Let’s meet Jen…

Tell us about the look you wore: Where would you wear it? Why do you love it? I love this outfit because 1) I love a blazer! and 2) it’s so versatile. It’s really just a t-shirt and jeans, but the jacket gives it a little interest. I wear it during the day with sneaks or I change out the t-shirt for this Joie silk top and put on these sandals and I can wear it to dinner. It is definitely going on vacation with me for that reason. I really love a blazer, but this one is soft and cozy like a sweatshirt so it is super comfy. And the striped cuffs are removable if I want a slightly different look.
How would you describe your style in 5 words or less? Structured modern casual
What’s your favorite pair of jeans? A true toss-up between Mother The Looker or AG The Stilt
Most worn item in your closet? Either a Madewell chambray shirt or a Rails button down. I can wear them casually with shorts or dress them up with chunky jewelry, a leather skirt, and booties for nighttime. I have several Rails buttons downs, and they are my go-to, but now that warmer weather is here I definitely have to stop myself from wearing chambray every day!
Go to week night dinner that everyone loves? Bucatini with Butter-Roasted Tomato Sauce which is basic spaghetti elevated a notch. It tastes delicious and so fresh even though it’s made with pantry staples.
I never leave the house without _____________. Sunscreen! I feel naked without it. This is my absolute favorite because it offers full sun protection and is matte but feels very light.
Go-to bottle of wine? Definitely the 2015 Bellacosa Cabernet Sauvignon
What splurge item is on your want list? I am not a lover of pink, but this wallet has been calling my name for months!
