loose waves tutorial

This post has been a long time in the making and it’s finally here! I’ve gotten many, many questions about how I achieve the loose curls you often see in my photos, but it’s taken me forever to actually show you all. Before one of our photoshoots, I asked Alison to quickly film me “doing my hair”. I always feel like we are both crunched for time (we have 7 boys between the 2 of us), but I promised her it would be fast and I am pretty sure she was shocked that yes, it really only takes 5 minutes. Disclaimer: I have a lot of practice. I curl my hair usually about 2 days per week, dry shampoo in between, and the other days I just air dry and go au natural. I use a curling wand and once you get the hang of it, it is so super easy. The best part about the wand that I use is that it is under $25. People also swear by this much more expensive counterpart (ok, so it comes with interchangeable wand sizes), but for me, the inexpensive version does the trick. Before we get to the curls, here are the hair products I am currently coveting….

Great video, I’m inspired to try it! Is your curling wand the 1-1.5 inch or .5 – 1 inch option for barrel width?

I got my curler wand today! It definitely takes a little practice at first but then I got the hang of it (after burning my finger once, lol). So worth it bc I love the natural beachy wave look!! Thanks for the tips and info on tools! I used hairspray and living proof full dry volume afterwards- looked great! Thanks again!!!
