Do you ever wake up and look in the mirror and think to yourself, “Oh no! What happened to my summer glow?” Yes, even here in Pennsylvania, it still feels like summer, but that summer glow is long gone. As the seasons change so should your makeup routine and there are easy ways to look refreshed without those sun kissed cheeks. During the fall and winter months, I like to go a “little” lighter on the bronzer and play up the eyes and lips. Abby and I recently picked up some new fall inspired shades at Ulta Beauty and have put together some easy fall makeup tips. As with any of my makeup routines, they need to be easy and fast! Abby and I will both be sharing a few products that leave us feeling polished, but can be applied super fast and provide maximum “pop” with minimum fuss.
Lindsey’s Fall Makeup Tips – Soft Palette
When in doubt, dry shampoo // Klorane is one of the first dry shampoos I ever tried and also easily one of the best. Pro Tip: apply it to your roots BEFORE you actually need it i.e. before bed if you know you aren’t washing your hair in the morning.
Play up the eyes // I rarely (never) leave my house without curling my lashes and applying my favorite mascara. It is jet black and super lengthening/volumizing. Basically what I am trying to say is that it distracts from the bags under my eyes. I also have become slightly obsessed with Gimme Brow. Unlike most brow fillers that you can see on your skin and look painted on, this product sticks to the individual hairs for a more natural, yet filled in look. I use the medium 3 shade.
Contouring 101 // Ok clearly I am not a makeup artist, but I’ve watched enough makeup tutorials in my day to know that a little contouring on the eyes goes a long way. This Nudestix (in color ‘rustique’) is by far my favorite step because it so much fun to use. I literally take the crayon and draw a line in the crease of my eye, and then use my ring finger to gently blend it in. It adds just the right amount of dimension for an effortless daytime look.
Matte-Tastic // I am majorly crushing on all things matte. I swap out my nude summer lip colors for something with a slightly deeper berry tone for fall. I love this Bare Minerals Gen Nude Matte Liquid Lipcolor in particular because it has serious staying power. I am wearing the color ‘icon’.

Abby’s Fall Makeup Tips – Bold Palette
The Inspiration: Vibrant, bold colors for a sophisticated nighttime look.
Texturize // If I am not dry shampooing, I’m texturizing. This Living Proof non-sticky formula gives a little more dimension (read: volume) to day 2 or 3 hair. Ponytail with a punch, accomplished.
Well, at least my nails are painted // A manicure is my savior for those days. When I am running late and disheveled and can’t remember if I actually put mascara on both of my eyes, one glance at my nails instantly makes me feel a little more pulled together. I love this Zoya shade “sooki” not only because it fun to say but toxin free to boot.
Pop it Like it’s Hot // Ok so this is an easy way to take your look from day to night. A bold can be overwhelming at first, but instantly elevates any look (even jeans and a white tee). Like Lindsey’s lip choice, this is also matte which is slightly more subtle than the shinier counterparts. It goes on smooth for easy application and is super light – basically it feels like you aren’t wearing anything at all.
Eye Candy // I’ve found the key to surviving the first year of motherhood requires a lot of “faking it until we make it”. Just as Lindsey mentioned, a generous coat of mascara helps to distract from the situation under my eyes. But this mascara in particular is infused with caffeine (I know!!) to energize and lift all day long. Basically it’s a new mom MUST! Full, darkened brows also bring the eye upward – I am a big fan of Eyeko brow gel which helps to shape and define. Lastly, I use the matte Nudestix in ‘chocolate’ on my lids. It goes on smooth and is easily blendable to use as a shadow or a liner.
