Yes, You CAN Wear a Jumpsuit

November 30, 2017

So the other day I got together with some friends and we wore jumpsuits and drank prosecco with 87 kids running around the house destroying things. Don’t ask….. Okay fine. If you really want to know it was for you guys. Many of you expressed interest in jumpsuits because they are a great (warmer) alternative to dresses this time of year, but you weren’t sold on the fit, the length and all the other logistics that must be considered when wearing a jumpsuit – i.e. going to the bathroom. Good news, we found some great ones. I personally love jumpsuits because they are a little unexpected and pretty much feel like you are wearing pajamas. The look is super chic without having to try that hard. Yes, there is the bathroom issue, but girls, when have you ever gone to the bathroom sans a girlfriend? Yes, you CAN wear a jumpsuit, and my super tall friend and my super petite friend are here to help prove it to you.

Jumpsuits for Petite Girls

Meet Kirstin: Mom of 2, hostess with literally with the mostess (no really, she let us all crash her house the DAY before she was hosting Thanksgiving for a million people) adorable, hilarious, and don’t let her height fool you – this girl will knock your socks off.

Height: 4’9 1/4 with an emphasis on the 1/4.

Wearing: Maggy London Colorblock Jumpsuit

The Verdict: Great for petites! Kirstin ordered this is in a petite size and no alternations were needed. We love the two piece look, but also talked about adding a belt for the appearance of separates.

The Motherchic wearing jumpsuit from Nordstrom

Wearing: Charles Henry Ruffle Jumpsuit

The Verdict: We loved the super flattering cut of this jumpsuit. The color is stunning and perfect for the holiday season. Although Kirstin ordered a petite size, it still needed to be hemmed. Taller girls may have better luck with this one especially if you order regular length.

Jumpsuits for Tall Girls

Meet Erin: Mom of 3, teacher + coach, all leg, and has better red hair than Julianne Moore (which she dyes to match her kids which is absolutely amazing)

Height: 5’10

The Motherchic wearing Tahari jumpsuit

Wearing: Tahari Jumpsuit (also available in pinstripe)

The Verdict: Structured, sophisticated, elegant and perfect for tall girls in regular sizes. Basically all of our jaws were dropped. Erin noted that this jumpsuit was not nursing friendly, but don’t fear……because this next one is!

The Motherchic wearing Vince Camuto wrap jumpsuit

Wearing: Vince Camuto Faux Wrap Jumpsuit

The Verdict: Besides being nursing friendly (hello, wrap v-neck) and top rated, this jumpsuit is probably the most universally flattering. It does run long… unless you are 5’10 you might need to get it hemmed. We agreed that it didn’t have the wow factor that Erin’s first jumpsuit had, but love this for a more casual affair.

Jumpsuits for Average Height Girls

And because I couldn’t attend my own jumpsuit party without wearing a jumpsuit…

Meet Lindsey: Mother of 4, blogger, her idea of fun is peer pressuring her friends to wear jumpsuits and take pictures of them….

Height: 5’4

The Motherchic wearing jumpsuit

Wearing: Eliza J Cold Shoulder Jumpsuit

The Verdict: I love that this jumpsuit doesn’t need much else. Between the shoulders and the belt, I added in a gold shoe and simple studs and outfit complete. I contemplated purchasing the petite sizes, but went with regular. It was a touch too long, but the pumps fixed that problem for the most part. Also I was afraid the petite size would be too short in the torso. Between the zipper and the bow in the back, you definitely need to bring a girlfriend to the bathroom when wearing this one. But I would say the jumpsuit is well worth it!

Alright girls, you DEFINITELY earned your prosecco!

Do you think one of us should go check on the kids?
