Based on the photos, it’s probably evident that we didn’t have any fun during our quick NYC Weekend Getaway……….(kidding). From Bloody Mary’s upon arrival, to seeing The Waitress, to shopping, to eating amazing NY pizza, to bar hopping (a little too much of that), to a matching pajama party with my favorites in a beautiful hotel overlooking Central Park….the only problem was that it wasn’t long enough (a visual recap is in my Instagram stories highlights). If you missed my first post, I listed several reasons why my sisters and my mom (and myself) deserved a mini escape. Sometimes the greatest gift you can give yourself is to book it…… and don’t look back! I know this is an extremely hard thing for moms to do, but there is a loooong winter ahead and your sanity will thank you. One of the best ways to conquer winter (unless you have an affinity for all things freezing cold and spending three quarters of your day searching for the missing mitten) is to plan a fun experience – whether it be a girls weekend full of relaxation and shopping or something fun for the whole family.
Expedia’s new “Collections” feature made it so easy to pick the type of getaway we wanted, find a hotel, and plan an excursion. Using the guest ratings as my guide I was confident that the location was great, the hotel top notch in a city that has too many to choose from. Once our hotel was booked, I used the “Things to Do” feature on Expedia as my virtual concierge. I knew we wanted to see a show, and luckily we got tickets to see The Waitress before it sold out (so fun, so good!). A wine tasting in SOHO was our second option, but there’s always next year. Because I did mention that this is now an annual trip, right? Dads… did you hear that?
Basically what I am trying to say – a weekend away is good for the soul. Save your pennies, skip the Starbucks. Do what you need to do. Then take your pick. Or just go all out for spring break. Ohh the decisions……
Thank you to Expedia and ShopStyle for partnering on this post.
