A mid-winter weekend getaway is always a good idea. I went to visit my parents in Florida this past weekend (a few fun photos here) with high hopes that a sun sighting would cure all of our winter ailments. Well, not so much the case. We did end up in urgent care with my youngest son who needed to be treated for breathing issues, but for the few moments we saw the sun, it was amazing.
It was a trip of highs and lows…. traveling with a 1 year old who was impossible to contain on the flight, dealing with a sick kid, forgetting my stroller at my parents house and having to carry my luggage and a one year old and the hand of my 4 year old through the airport, then not being able to find our car in the lot (not the first time this has happened to me) rounded out the lows. But there were some amazing highs that made it all worth it…. seeing my family who lives in Florida, watching my kids in pure bliss with their cousins, my mom’s home cooking, a fun photoshoot including something really cool we will be sharing about my grandmother, SUN, warm warm SUN, sunsets (anything and everything related to it not being freezing), poolside cocktails, and my son redeeming himself and sleeping the ENTIRE flight home. I am still in disbelief. Shhh! Don’t tell my other boys, but after that performance he is climbing the rankings for favorite child status. Ahh but now I’m rambling when the real point of this post is…back to reality.
One of the easiest way to style an outfit in a pinch is to go monochromatic with a pop of color. In the midst of winter black and blush is a fresh combo – seasonally appropriate, with a hint of what’s to come. When wearing all one color, always remember to vary fabric or texture to add more interest. In this case I paired charcoal jeans with a smocked top with tie string details. The bag is quickly becoming one of my favorites. It is butter soft with a super strong magnetic closure to hold the top together. I actually traveled with this bag this weekend and it was roomy enough to hold all of my essentials, kid stuff and also large enough for my laptop when I’m toting it around during the week. Lastly these block heel pumps are a wardrobe staple. They are easy to walk in (no really), super chic and versatile.
