Seeing Spots: Trend to Try

February 1, 2018

Fashion (just like little children) moves fast. Trends come and go so quickly its hard to keep up! I am a big believer in having great staple items but sometimes I can’t help but dabble (for the sake of the blog) in some “of the moment” pieces. While florals and stripes are no-brainers for spring, polka dots have also been spotted around town… pun intended. From evening wear to accessories and even poolside these dots have been popping up in all sizes! For me I like to add trendy pieces into my wardrobe that work with my lifestyle, even if I may still dream of wearing this dress. I’ve put together not 1 but 2 looks featuring this trending print.

Look One// This dress just makes me happy. It’s ruffled and swingy and polka dotted! I rarely wear tights (can never find a comfortable pair) but these ones from Commando may have me hooked! I went for a more dressed down look by adding booties and a denim jacket. You could easily switch out those items for heels and some earrings for a night out. I would even venture far enough to say you could wear this dress with a utility jacket, (gasp!) sneakers, and don’t forget your sunnies! One more thing, would you believe this dress is $34?!

Look Two// This outfit is definitely more in my comfort zone for everyday wear… basic denim, pretty blouse, everyday flats, and (my newest obsession) carryall bag. This blouse is easy to throw on with jeans or black pants or even a pencil skirt. Casual enough for chasing toddlers, but also work appropriate. I kept the accessories neutral to really let the print shine. Is it just me or do dots just make you smile? A quick note about the jeans… these are the Sculpt Jeans from the Gap that claim to keep their shape all day long. I did not see any bagging out with these so far and felt that they truly “held me in”.
