My Favorite Wardrobe Basics

February 15, 2018

the best of basics

Surprisingly, or maybe not surprising at all, I get a lot of questions about the under layers of my clothes. The wardrobe basics. The super basics. The things that I buy on repeat without even blinking. These are the items that I don’t mind spending a bit more on because I get so much wear out of them. And let’s be honest they help the rest of my outfit look good! So beyond the smoke and mirrors, these are the bare necessities that I just can’t live without…plus some other basics that you CAN actually see because once I started with the wardrobe basics I couldn’t stop!

the motherchic favorite jeans

Articles of Society Sarah Skinny Jeans // These are by far a reader favorite. Subtle rips, soft fabric and a price point that can’t be beat.

AG The Legging Ankle Jeans // Anything over $75 I consider to be a splurge .. so these are super splurge. But. I. Have. A. Jeans. Problem.

the motherchic favorite bras

Natori Feathers Underwire Contour // This is my go-to t-shirt bra, well really any shirt bra. It is comfortable but a bit girly and creates a really nice shape.

True and Co True Body Lift Scoop Neck Bra // I know this doesn’t look like much, but I look forward to wearing this bra. It is the softest most comfortable bra… in the world.

And for a strapless bra? I own only one and I love it – this one! I have no clue why it is on sale for $8 but at this price, it can’t hurt to try it out. Runs true to size. For those looking for more support, I’ve heart great things about this one.

the motherchic layering tanks

Target Maternity Scoop Neck Tank // I know, I know. Maternity? I love this tank because its soft, substantial, long and no it doesn’t have the side ruching.

J.Crew Factory Reversible Layering Tank Top // This tank is almost like shape-wear but not super constricting. Its a great layer under those tricky sheer tops.

the motherchic favorite underwear

Gillian & O’Malley All Over Lace Hipster// These are my everyday underwear. Because I really like coverage but the subtle sheer factor makes these super cute. Also they are very comfortable.

Hanky Panky Signature Lace Low Rise Thong// If I have to wear a thong, this is it.

the motherchic no show socks

Stance Uncommon Invisible// So these are pretty pricey for one pair, but once you try them you’ll understand why. These are perfect for those low booties and slide on sneakers.

Nike 3-Pack No-Show Training Socks// Since I have 4 children who happen to all be boys we have a lot of sportswear in our house. I jumped on the bandwagon with these socks. Perfect for running (when I get the chance).

the motherchic favorite makeup

bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream// I think the name about sums it up! But this is my favorite because it is super light weight (almost like a mousse) but provides the perfect amount of coverage. I wear tan for reference.

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Ant-Aging Concealer// Ok so maybe I was sold when it said this would make me look younger, but this product actually does so much more! Gotta try it to believe it. I wear medium for reference.

A few other wardrobe basics I love….

White Button Down (splurge) Silk White Button Down

Striped Button Down

Chambray

Camisole

Dressy Tank

Bootie

Sweatpants

Non-white tee

Bralette

That Natori Feather bra is my all time favorite. I seriously wear them every day I don’t need to wear a specialty bra. And they wash beautifully – I use a lingerie bag and lay flat to dry.

Hi Shari! I totally agree! Sometimes I forget and just stick in regular wash and still totally fine!!
