What’s almost as fun as decorating your home for the holidays? Answer: decorating your home for spring! After all of the spring cleaning is out of the way (we have all done that already right?!), I love brightening up my living room with some new accent pieces… and lots of plants. There is something about a room full of greens that just makes the air feel fresh. For the purposes of this post we used the living room at our headquarters to stage splurge and save living room accents. Why? Because my real house isn’t this clean (if we are being completely honest).
Decorating a new room or a new house for that matter can be overwhelmingly costly, but I’ve found that with a good mix of pieces at different price points, you are still able to create a look you love that suits your budget.
Before we get started I wanted to mention the fact that I could not have put this together without the brilliance of interior designer Larina Kase! She helped me think through the lay out, the sizes of each piece, the color scheme, the vibe…. and so much more. I can’t walk into this space and not smile. Soon we will do a full reveal of the space and you will get to see everything Larina helped me with…. literally cannot wait!
The Main Pieces of Furniture (without decor):
In terms of the main piece in this living room, they were definitely on the splurge-worthy spectrum of things – mostly because I knew this was a place that wouldn’t get much kid traffic. That said, this sofa (in velvet charcoal) is extremely easy to clean and could definitely work in a house with kids. The coffee table is pink quartz and was love at first sight for this boy mom craving a little femininity. And the rockers are also from Anthropologie (available only in brown) and the little gold side accent tables are none other than Target! And we cannot forget the rug – I love Lulu & Georgia because they have pieces at all price points. This rug is similar if the one I have is sold out in the size you need.
Splurge-Worthy Living Room Accents
Let’s start with the splurge-worthy decor, then we will show how we created a similar look for less, and finally a mix of high/low because we just couldn’t help ourselves! In all of these variations, the use of gold accents instantly elevates any space while the natural wood grounds everything to make it feel more like home.

Save Living Room Decor
Is it just me Target’s new Opal House line i.n.s.a.n.e.l.y good? It reminds me so much of Anthropologie without the hefty price tag. For the save version of this living room, we swapped out some of the pricier items with pieces from this new collection.
