I love to make my own taco seasoning in bulk, keep in an airtight container & store in the fridge for whenever I need it (or even just need to quickly spice up some chicken!). If you want to make more than the below, just double the recipe!
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 3 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons sea salt
- 2 teaspoons black pepper
When ready to use seasoning, use about 2-3 tablespoons per 1 pound of meat. After cooking meat, add seasoning & 2/3 cup of water, bring to a boil and then simmer (I usually add about a teaspoon of flour when boiling to thicken everything up!). For an extra kick (if you REALLY want to #spiceupyourlife), I sometimes will put in about 2 teaspoons of adobo sauce from canned chipotles.
