Ahh fall. Basically the best time of year ever. Ok you got me. I say that at the start of every new season. What can I say, I appreciate a new beginning and a little change – especially when it comes to my wardrobe. Fall is notoriously every fashion girl’s favorite season for dressing and this season’s fall trends are no short of amazing. Plaid galore, animal print, fuchsia, crystal everything (especially earrings), retro vibes…but the two fall trends I am really excited about are western details and wide leg denim. These are two totally wearable, approachable fall trends that can easily be incorporated into your closet. Lord & Taylor is having a huge sale (read: up to 40% off!!) new fall items so what a better time to showcase these trends than now?!
Fall Trend 1 – Western Details:
Whether it’s an oversized belt buckle, a studded or fringed bag, or a cap toe shoe, incorporating the western trend into your outfit gives off that rustic, laid back vibe. To play around with this trend, I started small with some metal detailing a western style bootie and juxtaposed it with a super feminine dress and cropped jacket.
Floral Dress – true to size and great for all seasons (wearing XS)
Jacket – in LOVE with this jacket. It’s super soft and an easy throw on and go layer in the perfect neutral (also TTS)
Booties – the perfect low heeled walkable bootie with metal details for that western vibe. Wearing “gray” but they also come in brown and black.

Fall Trend 2 – Wide Leg Pants
Raise your hand if you are ready to give your skinny jeans a little rest! Wide leg/flare jeans are extremely elongating and flattering silhouette and I am thrilled they are one of the biggest denim trends for fall. Shorter girls (that’s me), will require a boot with a little heel because most tend to run long, but tall girls can get away with wearing flats. Because they are voluminous on the bottom, wear something slimmer on the stop for balance. Although the top I am wearing is draped, the exposed shoulder makes it work with these jeans.
Sweater– draped and oversized neckline makes this perfect to wear over a tank or pretty bralette. Size down
Jeans (similar darker wash here) – true to size – tend to run a little long so if you are under 5’4 you definitely need a shoe with some lift.
Bralette – top rated and has more support than most bralettes
Shoes – these low wedges are becoming a favorite. They give just enough height for me at 5’4 so the hem of the jean didn’t have to be altered.
