If there’s anything that keeps me (semi)sane in the mornings while rounding up my kids for school, it’s a routine. It sounds silly and almost too good to be true but without it I might very well lose my mind.
Typically I sleep until one of my kids wakes up, then splash cold water on my face, brush my teeth and get the kids ready. And by ready I mean I change the baby’s diaper and get him dressed, tell the other boys to brush their teeth and get dressed. Then I meet them downstairs, pour them all chocolate milk (it’s like their coffee), and put on cartoons. This give me like 10 minutes to shower and get ready so you can bet I cram all of my essentials into this precious time.
1 \\ Coffee – I mean, this is a given. I keep it in my Yeti so no reheating is required. Use code LINDSEY15 to save 15% on one if you don’t already have! I never see them on sale so take advantage while this code lasts!
2 \\ Kiehl’s Glow Formula Skin Hydrator – After washing my face I love smoothing this on. It contains pomegranate extract that helps give my skin a rosy glow & brightens my face. It’s the perfect moisturizer before putting on any other makeup.
3 \\ Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue – A BB cream, CC cream, SPF & tinted moisturizer all in one. The perfect alternative to normal foundation that I can wear alone or if I have time, throw on a few swipes of bronzer.
4 \\ Smoothie – Sure, it’s easy to stop for a breakfast sandwich at the drive-thru (especially if I’m running late!) but it makes me feel sluggish after. To start my morning off right I like to make sure I eat something healthy and substantial, so I always gravitate towards a smoothie from Daily Harvest. They arrive at your doorstep frozen and I just pop them in a blender with almond milk. Super quick & easy to make in the morning for on-the-go goodness. Use code: THEMOTHERCHIC for three free cups!
5 \\ Effortless Dressing – My whole mantra about fashion is that it needs to be easy. Denim is always my go to, but on days when I need to be a little more polished I’m always looking for something that’s as easy to throw on as tee, but dressier. New on my radar is the sleep shirt. What once was designed for fancy sleeping attire has made it’s way to daytime streetwear…and I’m pretty happy about it. Silky soft & comfortable, it’s the perfect thing to throw on first thing in the morning with your favorite jeans (or work pants!) when your mind is still waking up from never sleeping through the night. Just me? To avoid looking like you actually rolled out of bed, dress up your look with either a statement necklace or earrings & a pair of heels.
And there you have it. My morning routine that goes picture perfect smoothly about 3% of the time…..#winning 🙂
