Thanksgiving Day Outfit Ideas

November 12, 2018

Ah, Thanksgiving. I am already full just thinking about this amazing day. For us Thanksgiving is usually a low key day with family, delicious food, great wine, football. Predictable and amazing, which is why it’s a holiday I always look forward to – I know it will be a day well spent with family. The last thing we should worry about is what to wear – things like figuring out how many pounds of turkey to order and how to time the mashed potatoes just right are probably top of mind. How does one time the mashed potatoes perfectly, by the way? Can you tell the family does NOT leave the cooking up to me 🙂 I’ll stick to what I’m good at and offer up some easy Thanksgiving day outfit ideas that will be as comfortable as they are cute!

Look One // The Sweater that’s #EXTRA

Ok fine…. I may be 17 years too old to be using that hashtag, but sometimes hashtags just nail it. This sweater has enough “extra” bells and whistles to make it an upgrade from your basic knits. It’s all about that back detail. Pair it with jeans, and statement flats and wear it to any casual family affair. If you need to dress it up a notch, swap out your denim for black pants.

Look 2 // The Plaid Shirtdress

Everyone loves a good plaid button down, but Thanksgiving is a day for taking it up a notch, right? Enter the plaid shirtdress. This has been selling like craaaazy for good reason. Pair it with booties…. and done. It really doesn’t need much else.

Look Three // Elevated Coziness (<–new term)

There’s just something about an oversized, slouchy sweater that gets me every time. If your Thanksgiving plans include a post party with old high school friends your favorite bar or you just want to dress your look up a bit, pair your coziest knit with heels and accessorize with a little sparkle – the easiest way to be comfy and chic.

Look Four // When In Doubt, Sweater Dress

Sweater dresses are having a major moment right now. They are the definition of styled comfort which is the goal when it comes to Thanksgiving outfits, right? Glam it up with a pair of statement booties (the ones I’m wearing are a holiday season must), or if you are going for a more casual vibe, cute sneaks work too!

Ok, now back to stressing over mashed potatoes!

Happy Thanksgiving, friends!

What type of bra do you wear with the first sweater—with the open V back?

I was just wearing a regular bra! It didn’t seem to show!

How else would you style the shirt dress? I want to wear it to work but can’t seem to find the right leggings / tights to shoe / boot formula.

You could also wear it with tall boots and layer a long cardigan over top!

How do you find the sizing on the shirt dress? I’m between XS and S sizes according to their size chart.
