Thank you to Backcountry and ShopStyle for sponsoring this post.
While my job has no shortage of a fun factor, most of our days are spent at our communal desk, the three of us hacking away at our computers. Sometimes we get up – for things like styling outfits, taking photos, or let’s be honest…. eating! But then it’s right back to that same spot at our desks. Rinse. Repeat. Somedays I don’t wear my smart watch on purpose. I don’t want to know how few steps I’ve walked….
One of the things I love about Backcountry is their passion about nature and getting outside. This month they challenged us to try something new, to break from the norm and if you follow me on Instagram, you know the results were invigorating….
Yes, we went ice skating! And it was So. Much. Fun. Was it cold? Yes. Did we put our work on hold? Yes. Were some of us nervous? Yes. But it was a million percent worth it. I don’t think I’ve laughed so hard since 2018. Ok so maybe I was laughing at Christine’s expense (she hasn’t been on skates in a while), but after a few laps she was definitely better than my 5 year old and that is saying something… trust me!
The rush of endorphins is real. Being outside in winter and challenging your body to move even when it just wants to be under a warm blanket on the couch, is a feeling that simply can’t be achieved in the summer. Maybe it has something to do with that cold air that really makes you feel alive. I witnessed the same thing with my kids when we went skiing a few weeks ago. The light in their faces said it all.
So now I challenge all of you. Try something new outdoors this season. Don’t let all of your days blend together. Making experiences a priority is good for the soul, especially this time of year. I have no clue what we did at work on Monday or Tuesday or Thursday. But I will most definitely look back on that Wednesday we went ice skating and smile.
Thank you to Backcountry for giving us the nudge we needed and to offering all of YOU an exclusive discount on all of the apparel and gear you need to plan your own outdoor adventure. Use code: LINDSEY15 to save 15%!
*Notes: Tie dye is BACK and this pullover is a perfect way to wear that trend. This pullover is super lightweight and tunic length so perfect to wear with leggings. It also has a side zip closure that can be adjusted for more room in the hip area. Oh, and it also comes in floral. The decision was a hard one!
*Notes: If you have never tried a Lole jacket, now is the time. They are SO thin but somehow insanely warm. They are made in Canada, so they definitely have warmth on the brain when it comes to manufacturing clothes. Abby couldn’t stop saying how she couldn’t believe such a lightweight jacket could be SO cozy.
*Notes: Christine’s jacket is by Backcountry’s own brand and happens to be on sale! It comes in solids as well as another gray speckled print. It runs very small – even the size small was snug on me. Definitely size up!
