I’ve been getting lots of questions about what I do to stay in shape. Although I like to mix it up with yoga and spinning, there is one workout that I always go back to. I have always been a runner (even won a few medals for the 4×800 relay back in my glory days), but I truly think it is the most efficient workout. Running tones your entire body, but beyond the physical benefits, I am always amazed at what a 20 minute jog can do for your mind. Anytime I need to think something through, running gives me mental clarity. It’s like free therapy with a great playlist… that is, when I actually remember to make a new one!
But with age (and no, 37 isn’t old, but it isn’t 18 either!)… running isn’t always easy on the body. And while I’m not ready to hang up my sneakers, I am all about finding ones that…. bounce?! Yes, at 37 I’m craving a little bounce (aren’t we all?) and if it’s not the skin on my cheeks, well then it better be my sneakers. What most impresses me about Under Armour is their sneaker technology. The new HOVR™ Guardian Running Shoes are engineered with the human body in mind. And not just any human body, human bodies that have birthed 4 kids, carried babies (ok and 7 year olds) on their hips for untrackable miles and are certifiably a little…out of whack! Translation: CUSHION! I’ve been through a lot of running sneakers in my day and these are hands down one of the best pairs I’ve ever worn. It’s one of those things you have to try for yourself….

The only other problem I run into (pun intended) with running is weather! It’s hard to find the motivation to run when it’s freezing outside, but luckily there is gear out there so we have #noexcuses. I had the chance to test out some of Under Armour’s newest arrivals and they are SO good. The Under Armour Fly Fast Crop Leggings are almost like second skin and stay put when running – not to mention they have several “secret” pockets. Their Qualifier shirts solve every temperature issue you’ve ever come across when running. Dare I say it is a “smart” shirt? It traps heat while also allowing for ventilation (yes, that slit in the back isn’t just for looks!). And if you are like me and always need that extra layer, the Qualifier jacket defies wind and is also water repellent because even though I don’t love running in the cold, I do love running in a little mist.

February 19, 2019 at 8:50 pmDo you go up a size for these if you’re running? I wear a 7.5 in regular shoes, but with running I think I should go to an 8?
