How to Style Spring’s Hottest Pants

March 1, 2019

Thank you to Nordstrom and ShopStyle for sponsoring this post.

Alright ladies, it’s time to shake things up for spring with a few new silhouettes. Whether you are going to work, on vacation, or just boppin’ around town we have a mini style guide on how to style spring’s hottest pants. And wait for it…. NONE of them are jeans. Recently I found myself browsing the aisles at Nordstrom (shocker) and all of a sudden my hands were full with items that I “had to have”, but really had no clue how I would wear them. I bought the goods back home and here is what I came up with….

How to Style // High Waisted Pants

Look 1 // Cocktail Hour

High waisted pants require a tuck so keep the fabric of your top in mind – you’ll want something on the thinner side. High waisted wide leg pants are best paired with something less voluminous on the top half to achieve that perfect balance. A simple cami does the trick and a pair of nude pumps elongates the legs even more. Add a cropped jacket and you can also wear this look to work!

Look 2 // Race Track Ready

Spring is all about *finally* getting outdoors and whether your celebrating derby days or just brunch alfresco with champs (yes please), why wear a skirt when you can wear pants?! Add in a printed tank and a walkable wedge to keep you stylish and comfortable all day.

How to Style // Track Pants

Look 1 // Sideline Chic

Track pants are a denim alternative I’ve been wanting to try for years but was never really sure I could pull them off. 1901 just released a more “approachable” pair and it’s going to take everything in me NOT to wear them every day. There’s that whole level of “sweatpants comfort” meets “Spice Girl edge” that makes them so appealing and shockingly easier to style than I thought. Wear them casually with your favorite graphic tee and platform sneakers or wedges (they do tend to run long so I need a little height!)

Look 2 // Girls Night Out

And if you want to get some heads turning on your next GNO…. track pants!! Go for that sporty femme look by pairing them with a delicate camisole and pumps.

How to Style // Printed Pants

Look 1 // Monochrome

Printed pants are eye catching so tone them down by going with a monochromatic color palette. And again, if they are wide leg, balance the top half with a more fitted top that shows some skin.

Look 2 // Print Mixing

For those of you who like to push the fashion envelope – there’s always print mixing! The key to making it work is pairing smaller prints with larger prints and make sure one color is pulled though. In this case, there is a touch of coral in the top that pairs perfectly with the color of the pants. This look is fun, playful, happy and….. feels like pajamas! Winning!
