Once upon a time the ladies of TMC decided to put their creative skills to work. Little did they know that lots of math, patience and sanity would be necessary for their DIY project. So while Lindsey was off frolicking at a photoshoot (but for clarity it was 40 degrees and she was in a swimsuit), Christine and Abby put their skills to the test with… removable wallpaper.
Number one rule of removable wallpaper is that if you are perfectionist Walk. Away. Now. This “little” project took lots of willpower to not rip each other’s hair out. And to quote one of our favorite movies… “She’s a full-on Monet. It’s like a painting, see. From far away it’s okay, but up close it’s a big ol’ mess.”
If you are still thinking that removable wallpaper may be a project you’d like to tackle, I am glad you are still here. Here are some serious tips that will hopefully help you!
- Find a Friend// Seriously do not do this alone! The extra hand is crucial. You will also need someone to help you to not give up halfway through.
- Start Small// The best areas for a pop of pattern would be the inside of a closet or a small feature wall. Anything bigger… hire a professional.
- Don’t be a Tool// Get the right tools: rulers, scissors, exacto knife, and squeegee are necessary! Also read the directions, they do provide tremendous value.
- Beware of !!// Outlets, windows, pitched roofs, uneven surfaces, and un-level houses are all things to steer clear of. Again… the inside of a closet is the best place to start. If you mess up, just close the door.
The best part of this project was that we caught it all on tape…
And of course more wall paper we love for you to ponder over…
