Lightweight Layers for Spring with Backcountry

March 21, 2019

Thank you to Backcountry and ShopStyle for sponsoring this post.

It is literally the best feeling when the weather starts to turn from winter to spring. Our neighborhood comes alive again in the most literal sense. Last week we had a 60 degree day and within seconds of the big yellow school bus pulling away, there was a massive game of capture the flag happening between yards (boys vs. girls, obviously). And with that warm air comes the excitement of the new season ahead…. new sports to watch, longer days, barbecue’s, and lots and lots and LOTS of outdoor play. When my kids hear kids outside, their ears perk, they scream “KIDS!!” and bolt. It’s up to me to keep up and be dressed for anything. ‘Tis the season for lightweight layers….

And I am only speaking for myself of course. My boys are never cold and my baby is only wearing a coat because he still listens to me (ha) #kiddingnotreally. The hat, however, is all him and I can’t even take the cuteness….But back to the layers which is really my way of avoiding any subtle reminders of the colder days in instances when the sun goes behind a cloud. Can’t just be me? Backcountry is my place for all things outdoors for all seasons. I’ve worn this Patagonia jacket as an under layer for skiing and come spring it will become my outer-layer. So what’s under my outer layer you ask? A seriously cute camo windbreaker that my oldest son as claimed for his own, and a tee in case the sun really starts to shine.

And on my bottom half, I will never quit the Alo moto leggings. They are the epitome of fashion meets function – cool factor instantly goes up at least 5 points when I put these on, am I right? Clearly all kicker holders need the chic factor…

The sneakers, my friends, completely sold out when I gave a sneak peek when they arrived! Hopefully many of you scored them and are absolutely loving them, but fear not, if you missed them – I’ve linked some equally cool options below.

My kids are the best motivators for me to get outside and move. One day I keep telling myself I will mimic their steps and it will likely be the workout of a lifetime. They. Never. Stop. But no matter what type of activity you are after, make sure you take advantage of Backcountry’s gearheads – they are former athletes and Olympians (no joke) and are available 24/7 to help you find exactly what you are looking for.
