Fashion Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Mens Picks from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

July 16, 2019

Now that the initial shock of the NSALE has subsided and we are anxiously waiting for that Madewell Cardigan to come back in stock… I guess we can shop for the other people in our family. If your husband is anything like mine, he only shops once a year for himself. Now is the time to update his closet with basic shirts/pants/quarterzippullovers and maybe a few unexpected items.

First thing’s first, I don’t know much about men’s fashion. Joanne Hassis at the Nordstrom in King of Prussia styled each of these guys. If you are local, you need to ask for her in the men’s department! Luckily I opted out of modeling for this post and got three of my favorite guys to step in.

Meet the Guys

Meet Ben (brother-in-law extraordinaire who also happens to be my favorite realtor. Philly area people, you can check him out here and definitely follow on Instagram to stay up to date with latest listings)

Stats: 6’3″/ 230lbs and normally a size XL, 38waist/32inseam

Wearing: Nordstrom Shirt | AG Pants

Meet Barry, my dad and self proclaimed “Senior Male Model”. Apparently some of you wanted him to get an Instagram handle so I went ahead and made one for him. Yeah, he doesn’t even know about it yet, but you can follow him here and maybe (after a glass of wine or two), I’ll convince him to start using it.

Stats: 5’9″ /190lbs and normally a size L, 36-38waist/31-32inseam

Wearing: Mizzen+ Main Shirt | Rhone Pants | Cole Haan Shoes

Meet Paul, my husband and world’s best dancer. I would tell you what he did for a living if I understood it myself. Lots of spreadsheets are involved. More importantly, he helped me create 4 adorable little boys and has been my better half since 1996.

Stats: 6’1″/ 200lbs and normally a size L, 36waist/32inseam

Wearing: David Donahue Shirt | Paige Pants | Santoni Loafers

More Shirt/Pant Combinations

Casual Friday

When Ben isn’t selling houses he is probably in the stands of his kid’s baseball games. This Vineyard Vines polo shirt is the perfect “work to weekend” shirt for his on-the-go lifestyle.

Blazers and Jackets

One of the things my husband and I can always agree on is that blazers are best. An easy way to dress up a work look, but also a special touch for when we get a night out. Blazers are also a great way to show a little personality with a subtle print.

Wearing

Peter Millar Blazer | David Donahue Shirt | Paige Pants | Santoni Loafers

Sweaters

Whether it’s Christmas, a birthday, Valentine’s Day, or Father’s Day the one gift that keeps on giving is the quarter zip…. These are what we like to classify as “no brainers”.

Thanks for the post. Love your dad. He is just 4 years older than my husband so this is good. He only shops once per year, usually at Target! I also have 2 adult sons and a son in law who appreciate clothing gifts. If I do not purchase now, these will go on my Christmas wishlist.

Great ideas! Realistically these are colder weather clothes, so the holiday season makes a lot of sense!

Thank you, Lindsey, this post helps so much. My husband’s office went from suits and ties to “cloud casual” (whatever that means) a few months ago, so he’s been building a new wardrobe. It’s been quite a switch but also a welcome one, as he seems to have a new outlook on work now that he’s so comfortable! He LOVES AG Jeans, and I’ve been trying to get him interested in colors other than typical denim. Your post shows how they can be just as versatile, so maybe I’ll order him a pair today. It also helps that your bro-in-law is about the same measurements-wise as my husband. Hubs looks at the models on the website who’re the same size as our 17-year-old son and says, “oh yeah, like an old guy can pull that off.” Well now I can tell him, “of course you can! Look at this!” xoxo

don’t miss a post
