Subtly Shimmery Eyes with NYX Cosmetics

November 7, 2019

Thank you to NYX Cosmetics and ShopStyle for sponsoring this post.

As our wardrobes transition for the new season, our makeup can also reflect those festive holiday vibes. Going with a bold lip is a no brainer, but I also like to incorporate more gold tones and sparkles into my eye make up routine. NYX Cosmetics reached out and asked me to play around with their Love Lust Disco Holiday Palettes and I created an easy 5-step “subtly shimmery” look for the holiday season!

But first, a little bit about these products. The palettes are only $20 and I was blown away by the gorgeous pigments. They are velvety in texture and very buildable – meaning you can layer on more for a more dramatic look, or just use a few swipes for something more subdued. Each palette comes with 10 colors and there is a mixture of matte, shimmery and metallic finishes all which complement each other perfectly. NYX Professional Makeup is makeup brand committed to supporting pro makeup artistry that is accessible to all. They are also a cruelty-free brand that celebrates diversity that self-expression. Yes, yes, and yes!

Here is my gold-hued look using the Livin’ Lavish color palette.

Step 1 // I used color number 10 all over my lid as base.

Step 2 // I swiped color number 1 into my crease to create some definition.

Step 3 // I used color number 9 in the inner and outer corners of my eyes for contour, then blended it into the crease with a fluffy brush.

Step 4 // I pressed color number 8 on the center of my eye to make it pop.

Step 5 // I used color number 2 as a highlighter under my brow bone.

And don’t forget the blush! The Love Lust Disco Sweet Cheeks Blush Palette has both shimmery and matte pigments. For more of a glow, I used the shimmery peach color, but if you want a richer tone all of these can be blended together depending on your skin tone. For added skin luminosity, I also recommend this highlight palette!

And there you have it….a simple, natural daytime look!

To achieve a more glamorous night time look, I used the same colors, but built it up my adding more pigment in each step.
