How I Wore It – February Capsule Wardrobe Recap

February 29, 2020

If you do something at least 5 times in a row they say it becomes a habit. This is our second month of doing these “capsule” posts. So, 2 down 3 to go! This month we asked our friend Paula to help model some of the capsule items. Paula is 5’11”, so you can get a grasp on what some of the items look like on a taller gal. We heard you loud and clear that more diversity is wanted. The thing is (to be totally transparent) no matter who we have help model on the blog we aren’t going to be able to showcase every body type, but please know we are trying our best! There are some logistics that make this trickier than it may seem. We try our best to find products that are versatile, affordable, and high quality. The feedback and support of our readers is always our first priority. So with that said, let’s get straight into the capsule!

The Motherchic February capsule

The Leather Jacket

I sized up to a small so that I could layer underneath. This is by far the splurgiest thing I’ve purchased and know that I will have it for years to come. It is an easy layer to pop over a tee or a dress for an instant edginess.

The Jogger

This is the perfect, comfortable pant that doesn’t look like you are wearing pajamas. They go to the bus stop and beyond!

The Classic Skinny Jean

After I posted these I had a friend text me saying that she was ordering a second pair because she loved them so much. They are literally that good.

The LBD

I mean what can I say here. The LBD is basically a basic. This shift dress with ruffle hem is the perfect blank canvas. An easy tip is to add a belt for more waist interest. Also, Paula did try this dress on and it was a tad too short for her liking. If you are taller than 5’6″ I would recommend trying this black dress.

The Date Night Top

I am not really a print girl, but this top may have changed my mind. It was perfect for Valentine’s Day, but also for lots of occasions after. I am wearing a small and Paula is wearing a large. We both found it true to size.

The Sweater Poncho

It’s clear by the pictures that this top was a team favorite. We loved pairing it with denim and sneakers, plus a few more combinations below.

The Versatile Blouse

I really can’t say enough about this blouse. It’s a fan favorite and happens to be on sale. Do yourself a favor and buy two colors.

The Leopard Tunic

OK yes, this capsule techinically has 2 tunics, but we wanted to balance the solid with an of-the-moment print. This button-down version is super versatile whether you knot it, layer it, or leave it long.

The Work Pant

Okay, I only got around to wearing these pants once. But that doesn’t mean I don’t love them! They are a pull-on, slightly wide leg fit and the price is g.o.o.d. Oh, and they have pockets. Perfect for work!

The Graphic Tee

Graphic tees are my spirit animal. Psst, I rounded up so many more favorites here.

The Legging

I had so many readers write in and tell me I had to try these Loft Ponte leggings. Well, know they are basically sold out. These are a ponte material, so a bit thicker than your average everyday cotton legging. They are work appropriate and very comfortable. I am not 100% sure if these are the exact same, but I found a similar pair at the Loft Outlet.
