Gibson x The Motherchic Sunshine Collection is now LIVE!

When we started building this collection with Gibson about 7 months ago, we knew we would be creating something fun, bright, happy, wearable, versatile, and fashionable. What we didn’t anticipate was that we would be launching this in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. To be honest, we went back and forth – To launch? Not to launch? But the bottom line is, we are all in this together. Everyone is affected by this. After grappling this decision we decided that everyone could use a little sunshine right about now. If we can deliver that to your doorstep and make your day a little brighter, then why wait? And surprise, the entire collection is 25% off for a limited time!

The Motherchic team (and I think I can also speak for Gibson), fully believes in the power of fashion to make you feel like the best version yourself. Get dressed every single day even if you have no where to go (right now). When these pieces arrive, wear them! Twirl in them, dance in them, have dates in your home in them or picnics on your carpet in them. Then take pictures and and share then with us to help spread some positive energy….which can also be very contagious.

The Laguna Maxi Dress

Why We Made This Piece: The Laguna Maxi makes you feel like a woman! It hugs in all the right places (hello smocked bodice) and has that twirl-worthy flow that makes you want to dance. It really doesn’t need much else, well, maybe a drink with an umbrella.

Fit Information: This piece has adjustable straps and can also be worn strapless! I am wearing and XS and think it runs TTS. If you are under 5’3, you will want to get petite sizing.

Styling Tips: Dress it up for dinner with wedges and fun earrings. Wear it more casually with flat sandals and a denim jacket. Also, pairs great with a smile.

Why We Made This Piece: This preppy little number is how we do fit & flare. We wanted a dress that was equal parts flattering (which is achieved by the strategically angled stripes), as it is appropriate for various occasions. We achieved this by making it knee length so it can easily be worn to Easter, graduations, country clubs, casual weddings… walking the coast in Newport (just to name a few!).

Fit Information: This dress runs TTS. It is the only pieces in the collection that requires a strapless bra. If you need a recommendation this is my personal favorite for small chest, and many readers with larger chests love this one. Somewhere in the middle? This one is also great.

Styling Tips: This dress does the talking so let it be your statement piece. Pairs great with neutral shoes and dainty jewelry.

Why We Made This: There are so many times where I want to throw on a tank, but I don’t want it it to be spaghetti strap! We created a bra friendly tank that is also nursing friendly thanks to working buttons. We also didn’t want it to be boring so we added fun prints and textures and a double take-worthy cross strap design in the back.

Fit Information: I am wearing and XS and would stay to size down if wavering. I have a very small chest and the XS is teetering on being too big.

Styling Tips: You can wear this tank as a set with the matching skirt or shorts. It looks best TUCKED into both the shorts and skirt! It also looks great with your favorite pair of denim shorts, or white jeans. Really it can do no wrong – it’s a staple your closet will thank you for!

Why We Made This: You guys, shorts can be HARD!! We wanted something that was polished, yet comfortable. This pull-on style short has a subtle paper-bag style waist for a touch of femininely. The fabric is breezy and and can take you anywhere from date night to pool parties to errands and beyond! And yes, they have pockets!

Fit Information: These shorts should sit at your natural waist. They run TTS (wearing XS for reference), and I recommend petites for anyone shorter than 5’4.

Styling Tips: These shorts are super versatile! You can pair them with the Isle Tank or Virginia Ruffle Tank and looks best if you tuck both of those tops in! You can go matchy-matchy to achieve the look of a romper or mix and match the colors for a cohesive set. You can also pair these shorts with a fitted tank or body suit. Want a little more personality? Try them with a graphic tee!

Why We Made This: Sometimes a girl just wants to pull something out of her closet that makes her feel beautiful. That is this tank. It is elegant and classy and has just the right amount of femininity. I can’t decide which view I like better – the front or the back? The dropped square next detail in the back definitely has my heart.

Fit Information: This tank runs TTS.

Styling Tips: Again, this tank was designed to pair with the Harborside Shorts and/or Siesta Button-Down Skirt (tucked in!). You can make a matched set or mix and match. The tank also looks beautiful and classic with a pair of white jeans. Make it more casual with blue denim (jeans/skirt/shorts).

Why We Made This: Midi skirts are a non-shorts wearing girl’s best friend. The print is fun and playful and the solids are chic and elegant. Pockets were a must! The ruffle waist and buttons are just added bonus!

Styling Tips: Be creative! I love that you can wear this one as a set or break it a part and dress it down with your favorite tee.

Why We Made This: Tiered Dresses are having moment, but not all are super flattering. Our version of the tiered dress as a slightly longer top tier to avoid “tenting” and the result – a flirty little number that is ready for anything!

Styling Tips: Oh the many ways to style this dress! It’s concert ready with a denim jacket and sneakers, it’s wedding ready with heels a fun clutch, it’s vacation ready with espadrilles and a woven bag.

Why We Made This: Kimonos are one of my favorite “accessories” because they add a little punch to any outfit. I know Motherchic readers are huge fans of kimonos so it was an honor to work with Gibson to create our own!

Fit Information: One size fits all!

Styling Tips: Kimonos are the ultimate spring/summer staple. Wear it over a fitted dress, as an extra layer over a camisole and jeans or over your bathing suit as a chic cover up.

Beach Burnt Out Tee

Why We Made This: As much as I love the pretty tanks in this collection, I’m a sucker for an amazing tee… especially one that is a little slouchy and insanely soft. This one has that “beach chic” vibe with the burnout fabric and raw hem details.

Fit Information: TTS – meant to be slouchy so size up if you like even more of an oversized fit.

Styling Tips: Wherever, whenever! And warning, you are going to want to sleep in it too!
