Matcha Recipe & Morning Routine

I recently shared my matcha recipe on instagram stories and got so many questions I thought it warranted a entire post. A few months ago I switch from morning coffee to morning matcha. My health coach at Parsley Health suggested I give it a try for several reasons.

Why Matcha?

  • It’s caffeinated, but gives more of a calm, sustained energy versus the spike/crash effect of coffee.
  • Matcha also contains l-theanine which is an amino acid that helps absorb excess estrogen and may help to balance hormones.
  • There are tons health benefits of matcha that you can learn about with a quick google search.

Why Matcha Powder vs Loose tea?

  • Matcha powder contains all of the nutrients from the leaf so you will get the benefit of more antioxidants from matcha powder.

What Matcha Powder do I use?

To be honest I have only tried two brands and liked them so I just stuck with it! I use Pure Blend Matcha and you can buy it direct from their site, but I normally by it from Mom’s Organic Market. Rishi is the other brand I love and it also comes in to-go packs. If you have a sweet tooth, this Sweet Matcha is delish mixed with milk.

My Matcha Recipe:

1 cup milk (I use almond or oat milk)

1 tsp matcha powder

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

honey to sweeten

Add all ingredients into this frother and turn on. While it is frothing, I boil water and pour 2 ounces of water into the bottom of my mug. The hot water just makes it a bit hotter which I enjoy, but you can skip this step! Once the matcha is done frothing, I pour it over the hot water and it’s ready to drink.

And as for my morning routine? Ok so so maybe that was just a hook. I really don’t have one, but it made me sound really adult-ish and organized, didn’t it? I am one of those people who wants to have a routine, but literally never end up making two days look the same. The first few steps of my day are always the same, however. Get out of bed, splash cold water on my face, apply face oil, brush my teeth, make my matcha. After that… it’s all free game!

    for the matcha recipe, you use 1 cup of milk and the water that you use to warm your cup? Just making sure i’m reading the recipe right. Thanks for your help.
