Thank you to Sephora and ShopStyle for sponsoring this post.
I’ve never really been one to spend a lot of time doing my makeup. It could be due to the fact that I have 4 young kids or just the fact that I’ve always been drawn to the “less is more” look when it comes to make up. In the summer months I really try to go for that barely-there, dewy, all natural look. The fact that we aren’t really going anywhere these days has also given me good reason to hone down my make-up to a few core items. In this post I’ll be sharing my 5 minute summer make up look from Sephora, plus a few treatment products that help give you fresh, glowy skin. 5 Minute Summer Make Up Routine
The first step to any make-up routine is sunscreen. SuperGoop Unseen Sunscreen is amazing because you can’t see it and you can’t smell it. You can’t feel it, but you have the peace of mind that it’s there and doing its thing.
Long-time readers know my next step – BareMinerals Complexion Rescue in shade “tan 07”. I’ve been using this tinted moisturizer for years. If I am being super minimalistic, I would apply this and walk out the door. Most days I continue to step 3……
Bronzer! I use Nars in the shade “Laguna” all over my face to warm it up (forehead, cheeks, nose chin). In the summer months I like to use cream bronzers and blush because they leave your skin looking dewy. I have two of the Kosas palettes and just sort of play around with them. Sometimes I use the darker palette for a warm, summer look by applying the darker color in the hollows of my cheeks and dabbing the lighter color on the apples. Sometimes I want more of a bright, playful look so I will use the pink palette by applying the darker pink to the apples of my cheeks and blending with my finger or a brush.
My summer eye routine is super basic. I use the Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerize Cream Eye Shadow in color “Jean – Champagne”. No tools, brushes or mirror required! I just used my ring finger and dab it into the pot to pick up some color. I swipe it all over my lids from the lash-line to brows. It just gives a subtle shimmer and there is absolutely no creasing.
I follow up with mascara to complete my eyes. For daytime I don’t use any liner! I recently started using a new mascara from Tarte called SEA Surfer Curl. Maybe it was the cool summer-eque marketing that drew me in, but I will say, it is super volumizing and doesn’t flake.
The last step is dusting my face with the Ilia Soft Focus Invisible Powder. I use it all over my t-zone to help keep excess shine at bay.
And that’s it! Almost as fresh-faces as these two, right?!

Next I want to highlight a few other products that keep you skin extra plump, hydrated, smooth and glowy!
1 // A great exfoliator – This is a summer time must. The Goop Microderm Instant Glow Exfoliator is an at-home skin polishing product that will help remove dead skin cells between facial treatments. This helps to even skin-tone, clean pores, and promotes cell turn over. This product is pricy but a little goes a long way and you only need to use it 1-2 times per week.
2 // A wrinkle treatment (or two) – I’ve entered the retinol age. Actually I probably should have started using it years ago, but in my research, Shani Darden is the queen of retinol. Retinol is one of, if not the most powerful anti-aging ingredients so if that is a skin concern of yours, her Retinol Reform is amazing (and used by many celebs). Again, a little goes a long way and you can use it a few times per week. This product targets fine lines and dark spots and unlike many other retinol products, it is non-drying. I’ve built up to use it almost daily and have had no peeling/flaking as with other retinol products.
The second retinol product I use is Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Retinol Eye Sleeping Mask. My under-eyes are my biggest skin problem area so I am always looking for the best eye treatments. I love that this product works while you are sleeping and has Sephora’s “clean” seal which means it is made with ingredients that many people try to avoid. I apply this before bed and it helps with puffiness, dryness, and loss of firmness.
3 // A complexion booster – if you are looking for an immediate skin boost, Herbivore Prism 20% AHA + 5%. BHA Exfoliating Glow Facial is insanely good! Every time I use it I feel like I look 5 years younger (don’t laugh!). It’s a rinse-off mask that transforms your skin from dull to radiant in 20 minutes or less. For sensitive skin, just leave it on for 5-10 minutes. I have built up to 20 minutes, then just rinse it off with warm water. I really can’t say enough about this product if radiant skin is your goal!
4 // A sun-kissed glow (without the sun) – yes, I am talking about sunless tanner, but not the messy, smelly, hard-to-apply kind. I recently discovered Isle of Paradise Self-Tanning Drops and they are GAME CHANGERS! You just add a few drops to your favorite moisturizer and build yourself a gradual tan. You can use these on your face and body to help you achieve that beautiful, bronzed summer skin.
5 // Effortless hair – who has the time/energy to do your hair in the summer months? This quarantine life has really got me in a hair-doing hiatus and OUAI Air Dry Foam is my new BFF. I use a wide-tooth comb in the shower to detangle and part my hair. I use a tool to gently squeeze out excess water, then apply the air dry foam in upward scrunching movements.
6 // Something that just smells and feels really good. I got a sample of the OUAI Rose Hair + Body Oil a few years ago and have been buying it ever since. I prefer body oil over lotion because I it absorbs faster and is equally if not more moisturizing. Plus I just love the subtle rose smell. It makes me happy. That is all.
