I can’t believe it’s back to school time. Well, sort of. I think we can all agree that it’s more back to school-ish. The school part may be happening, but the going to the school part, not so much for many kids. In a recent poll, I asked the Motherchic readers what they bought their kids to get ready for back to school. One mom wrote in the best answer ever… Disney +. That had me laughing (and then immediately subscribing!). As a former educator, the current climate is not stopping me from getting my kids excited for a new year. As one of my neighbors recently said, we can make this an adventure for them, rather than a disappointment. And with that, every adventure begins with a little anticipation. Sort of like when you find out you are going to Disney. In this case, Disney can come to you in the form of the cutest back to school gear that will get your crew pumped for learning in no time!

One of the most important parts of preschool is to set a foundation for a love of learning. I never cared if my kids came out of preschool knowing all of their letters, but I did care that they were happy. Building social skills, taking ownership and pride in their work still remain more important than actual knowledge. That will all come with time. As we navigate a new school year, filling up a new backpack with toys/books/coloring books and walking to school (a.k.a. the backyard playhouse) with friends, siblings (or in this case, cousins) still helps to accomplish those goals.
