Occassion Outfits to Wear this Spring

April 23, 2021

Thank you to Nordstrom and ShopStyle for sponsoring this post.

I got an invitation. Insert squeal of excitement. And then like a slow motion wave, the panic sets in. What am I going to wear!? Is white appropriate? Is black too formal? Is a skirt dressy enough? Ok, let’s tackle this one fashion emergency at a time. I took a recent poll to see what types of events are popping up on your social calendar this year and a few events tied for the top spot. The first is graduation – late May and early June are the most popular times for a graduation, which means it will most likely be HOT. The other top event was some sort of religious ceremony: baptism, communion, bar/bat mitvahs, etc. Since these usually take place in a place of worship there are some attire guidelines. And lastly, showers! Luckily, with Nordstrom’s variety of offerings there is something appropriate for every occasion. And as always Nordstrom offers curbside pick up if you happen to be the type to pick-up-the-dress-on-the-way.

What to Wear to Graduation

The day might not be about “you” but you know that there will be a ton of pictures taken to commemorate this glorious moment. And while you may be seated for quite some time the outfit has to be comfortable. It’s best to beat the heat in a two piece ensemble. An easy tank paired with a flowy skirt creates the perfect look. I also love that you can style this skirt more casually with a graphic tee and sneakers! Add a wedge because walking in grass is likely inevitable!

What to Wear to a Religious Ceremony

It is easy to get carried away in the hoopla of the day, so my best advice is to keep it simple. A fit and flare dress with sleeve coverage and a few key accessories makes for an effortless look.

What to Wear to a Shower

Whether it’s a baby shower or bridal shower, this dress is something that works for these occasions and honestly many more! A black dress is always classic, but I love the fun details on this one in particular from the flutter sleeves to the smocked top. You can belt it or skip the belt and add a statement necklace. The accessories are always the place to add some of your own personality!
