I vividly remember walking into my grandmother’s house every Sunday for dinner when I was a kid. The dinner smells, the warm air, the table always perfectly set, the candles lit. It’s that hygge feeling embodied. It may seem like a small detail, but when you are having a guests for dinner or even just your own family, having a beautiful, inviting tablescape sends the message: I am really SO happy you are here. I’ve also learned (and this is just a free tip), but if you have a beautiful table set, it will make whatever you serve taste at least seven times better. I’ve partnered with The Home Depot to share some festive pieces from the their stylish assortmen that will make your table worthy of the most amazing dinner guests in town.
When setting a table for fall, I like to bring elements of the outside in. For this tablescape, I incorporated fall foliage and natural elements like burlap and wood to simulate the beauty of the season. I realize the fall bouquets are not ideal for conversing across the table, so I simply move them when it’s time to sit down to eat. They are beautiful statement when guests arrive – even my own kids appreciated them when I was setting this table. Flameless candles create an instantly cozy vibe and I was drawn the to the warm gold tones for this time of year. And yes, they flicker like the real thing!

I love the charcoal and gray stoneware for this tablescape and also for everyday use. This collection is both serene and masculine and the colors complement a variety of color schemes. I am already imagining how fabulous they will look with white and reds come time for December holidays. I also went with black stainless steel flatware because it feels elevated for a special occasion. Yes, another detail my kids noticed… “Wow, mom, this spoon is awesome!” What can I say? It’s the little things.

I played around with mix and match place mats by alternating the burlap with the chambray stripe – there is something to be said about an eclectic vibe that makes a table more inviting. Here is a rule for you to remember: anything goes when setting YOUR own table!

And remember my tip about the table making the dinner taste that much better? The Magic Chef is pretty fool proof if you ask me. What’s better than a no-fuss meal so you can actually sit down and enjoy your company?
